Welcome to FashionCents

This is an exciting time because so many wonderful things are happening.. It is a great new year and 2008 promises to be the best year yet... For everyone!! I am very excited about FashionCents, because I think it is a great way for us to communicate and share ideas about fashion, shopping and great tips that we can borrow from each other. This is so much fun, I feel like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City. I arrived back from NYC last night and had an amazing time. It was my girlfriends baby shower and so we threw her a glamorous party in her honor. It was incredible. Then our friend Alejandro Sanz, (if you dont know him, he is a very very famous international singer) performed at Madison Square Garden on Friday night and we went with our very dear friends, Marc Anthony and Jennifer as well as our friends Paulino Rubio (the mexican pop star) and her wonderful new husband, Nicolas who is incredible. We danced all night and had the best time and celebrated after. It is always wonderful to be in NYC. I just love it there, it is somehow liberating. I was so excited to get out into the city and do some shopping. I wasn't really in need of anything or looking for anything in particular, but just wanted to feel the city and somehow you get sucked into all those stores. But strangely enough, as much as I love to shop, I just didn't have as much fun as I thought. It is real work to go into a store and try to find what you are looking for or even browse for that matter. You have to find someone to help you, then you have to hope that they have what you are looking for and if you are lucky enough to find it, you then have to stand in line and wait to pay for it and hope they ring it up right the first time:) I tried very hard to buy something in New York, believe me, I tried, I went into so many stores, but even JR was surprised to see me come home with nothing (and relieved:) But when I got home, I started to shop Market America's shopping site, and of course I ended up on Shopbop.com (one of my favorites...I always seem to end up there) and bought a bunch of goodies:) I love that store because you can find everything from bathing suits and sweatsuits to cocktail dresses and the shoes...all in one place.. love that concept.(be sure to check out the new colors of Juicy Couture, I got the lawn boy green and clementine orange, yummy!!!) (and of course if you are a Market America Unfranchise Owner, you get paid back for your purchases in cash:) Shopping online is so much easier and you get to browse without anyone hassling you....
Every once in a while, a girl has to indulge herself,
xox Loren

Congrats on the first post. How could anyone go to Manhattan and not buy anything? Everytime I visit NYC, I personally always get some souvenirs, from random "I Love NY" T-shirts at midtown to a kung-fu DVD in Chinatown.

I should have at least got some of those great "I Love NY" shirts...maybe that would have been satisfying to the appetite..:)

Dear Loren, I so much enjoyed reading your BLOG on shopping. Shopbop, under the apparel & fashion tab is an exciting store to browse. The Clothing was clean, fashionable, and elegant; just my style! I was hoping to see men's clothing. You and JR always look so cool at our convention networking parties. And I'm guessing that you help or shop for JR:) Would you be so kind to point me in the direction for men's cool and stylish clothing. Thank you, Jeromy

Forzieri, out of Firenze, Italia, is one of the best online retailers for men (and women) and has exceptional customer service. Oh, and it just so happens that they are a Market America Partner Store, so it's a win, win, win if you shop through MarketAmerica.com. I particularly like their ties; one would have to go to a physical Turnbull & Asser or Etro boutique (of which there are few) to find similar or better ties.

    Respectfully,
    Matthew Kimball

If you like music as much as clothing, you can visit my site after you check out Forzieri:

    Hi, Loren.
There are many amazing things about you. You are a smart, wise and bright woman who inspired JR to create something great and unique – Market America. As I know, you are a hardworking woman, wonderful mother and sincere friend. Plus, you are charming and beautiful, with a great taste. And whenever many people grow and become famous, they stop being earthy. You are not! You are chatting with people online becoming one of them , letting people know that all your glamour cannot be compared to your pure soul of a naturally beautiful woman. One day we will meet, and I will be happy to have a laugh with you, a cup of coffee and friendly conversation, and share something that happy women can share. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll go shopping together. Have a wonderful day, lots of smiles, adoration of men and support or women:-))

Excellent first blog. My very first blog entry as well so we are off and writing... I'm a fairly new distributor in NJ under Gigi and I am so excited to be a part of this great company that you and JR started. I know what you mean about the excitement of NY but moreso, I too like the excitement of paying myself rather than somebody else more. I look forward to more blogging with you.

Dear LaurenCongrts on your first blog. This is the coolest thing I can not wait to see you next week. I am sure you and JR along with the corporate team have plenty to share with all of us. I wanted to share this with you. Transitions is the greatest thing I have ever done. You might remember when I first started in MA in August of 1997 that I was about 325 pounds. I was a great believer and success story in thermochrome select losing 100 lbs. I thought it was the greatest thing but when we stopped making it I was worried after my mass supplies which iI referred to as contraband dwindled. I was starting to panic. Well after about a year and a half I started to get plump going back up to 278 pounds. Weight has been a fight all my life not from sweets but just liking to eat good food good restaurants and without the thermochrome weight creeps up on you. Finally I took a stand and decided to follow the transitions lifestyle. I started a group with 8 fat friends and we lost over 185 pounds. I led the group in weight loss at 34 pounds at the end of 12 weeks. Now I am well over 50 pounds and coaching some others. It is so great I feel so good it is incredible. the transitions teaches you how to eat I think I can do this for the rest of my life with no problem. Thanks for finding Dr. Sheri and taking the time to search for products and a system like this. Thanks for all you do to find all the other great products, great people, and for staying on that cutting edge I love you, JR and the corporate team, and I love MA too.

Oh, to shop... and where to shop... here the question is posted. This is Glenda and I wanted to let you know about a few additions that would be ever so enlightning!!!!! I am 5', 95-101lbs with a 5 1/2 to 6 shoe size. Don't let my size fool you, I walk tall! Shopping for clothes and shoes is a nightmare regardless of the city or country... and virtually shopping for the above is, well, non existent. Perhaps we can encourage a "catalog based" sizing chart univerisally throughout our Mall. We all know how some designers "run larger and some smaller" than others. I will sum this up with THANKS SOOOO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND EXPEDIENT PROGRESS.....I am daily amazed! See ya at leadership, Glenda, ghallsmall

Hi anonymous, Sorry you feel that way...Actually if you took the time to read the blog rather than just post your negative comment you may see that a group of us are here to help each other with ideas. Since you have nothing to share with the group except how much more you have in life than me, which I thrilled for you...Maybe you ought to take a look at your life and see what you are doing to help others and share with others...it certainly feels better than just having a lot of money and just being negative and nasty... Good luck to you.. having a lot of money and no happiness is a very sad and lonely place...I wish you the best, Loren

    Loren, I feel the same way when I go shopping ANYWHERE besides our portal. I must admit, 2 of my favorite stores are not partners YET, and I cringe when I spend so much money at them, knowing I have my very own stores. Knowing now about Shopbop and other designer partner stores changes things a bit. What a site!, I mean they really do have sooooo much, that is why constantly checking out our portal stores is key, you never know what you will find. Thanks for the tip. Also your time in NY sounds like it was a blast, Jennifer's twins are going to be gorgeous and fashionable, I can't wait till Leadership, it's the time of year I look forward to the most, seeing my coorporate team and our MA world team partners is the greatest feeling to experience.     Hiya Loren;

It's Glenda again! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to Leadership. Grrrrrrrrrrr.......Keepin it short, old money/new money... spends the same. I don't believe in waste of anything.
Here are the basics: I've spent 17 years attempting to accumulate web/internet/affiliates/local business into a fraction of what ya'll have accomplished! Congrats on having the Capacity, Desire and Skills!!!!!
I'm here to build those who are deserving... I came from not a lot and still have not a lot .... yet, I am so blessed and reminded every day.
Below is a more detailed description of the "size chart" which sent anonymous into a frenzy..... yikes... virtual shopping is aka online shopping...."""do you remember the commercial for Cascade.... Virtually Spotless... Virtually has been a key word since I can remember--- virtual back before the internet was considered "a false place" or "an imaginary place".

    1. Personal Profile - Measurements (if we want to do the input)
    2. This is for all sized people
    3. I am ADHD and have to concentrate on keeping weight on.... have always been hyper conscious of the affect/effects of what I consume....
    4. I am part Cherokee, German, Dutch, English and French. Largest part Cherokee
Thin, strong... hunter... Keeping this in mind.....
    5. Each Customized site can contain individual charts...with Individual measurements
    6. From there, our clients (and partners) can search with and according to the measurements
    7. With charting by designer- each design is in accordance to particulars... what are they ...
    8. Match with our Internet capabilities...
After reading the anonymous comments I considered the underlying message.. and wasn't offended in the least. I do appreciate your reply and it is noted that you paid attention.

    Hi Loren,
I appreciate this blog. What I personally would like to see come of it is this. Thanks to the choices I have previously made, my style has been put on the back burner for quite some time. I have a hard time sorting through magazines like style and get a bit overwhelmed with all the information that is out there. I tend to gravitate toward a more classic look inspired by Ralph Lauren but find I finish up looking a little boring or perhaps unisex. I still want to look feminine, classic and sexy all at once. Any advice in this area is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Loren,

Leadership was wonderful. I have a couple of quesitons for you. I found out the Monday before Leadership that I am expecting baby #3. I am a heavy-set woman. What fashion sites do you recommend for maternity clothes? Also, has there been any thought about putting together a "prenatal" vitamin formula in Isotonix form? I did get some help with what I should be taking, but I thought having it all in one bottle might be a solution instead of making sure I remember (I have preggo brain) to add everything to my morning vitamins.

Dear Loren, We are so greatful for everything we learned this past weekend. Spreading the news has never been easier.

We were brainstorming, and had an idea if its not already on the way.Is There a Market America Gift card that can be used for the portal. If we loaded $10 Gift cards with our Portal domains on each one and gave them out, like advertisement, an even greater incentive to check out the portal would be born.

Market America Gift Card, Your Domain or Reference Code for the back of Business cards. Any thoughts on that? Can't wait to hear back from you

I NEED YOUR HELP...now, I can't find the blog info. on the sneakers that tighten your booty and help with cellulite...they were on Loren's first blog...but, it's getting confusing on where to find the info and which blog to read...ANYWAY, Loren along with several others had given me additional stores to shop and find these amazing shoes and now I can't remember where that was. Do the blogs go away after a certain amount of time. Sipping my SlimBeans and shopping from myself...life is good!

Loren...woo hoo for getting Urban Outfitters as a partner store!! Might I strongly suggest that we go for Anthropologie!! They are owned by Urban, so maybe that won't be too hard. Down here in Tennessee, WE LOVE ANTHROPOLOGIE!!!! ...as I know does the rest of MA girls!!! Thanks Loren, Misty

    Loren,
With grace, poise, compassion, and ultimately love, you show us how to keep a positive attitude, even when you are acousted with a negative blog. Thank you for leadership worth following and emulating. You inspire me to be greater than myself, but to remain humble to the common human spirit in all of us. You have such a great attitude. Thank you for sharing yours with us.
    Dr Lisa
