Whether you are a seasoned fashionista or a budding fashion designer, building a wardrobe can be a very daunting task! There are many things to consider. For instance, do I have enough closet space? How much will all of this run me? Lastly, will I be able to reuse any of the pieces that I have selected? These are all great things to consider. The answer though is simple, Yes! You will be able to have enough closet space, shop smarter and also reuse many pieces.

The first thing to consider is budgeting! Not every piece of your outfit needs to be from a specific designer. What is great about fashion is that you can purchase a nice pair of jeans (say for around $200) and then add a vintage top that you found for $8. Also remember that jeans, pants, skirts and dresses can allow you to use certain pieces with different tops, sweaters or even jewelry to create an entirely different look!

Creating unique, yet fashionable looks doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Be centsible! Check out the following link to read more about some ideas that I found that will help you build your wardrobe for less!

Last week, I mentioned a few fashion tips for the upcoming Gala, not to mention, a few tips for guys. With back-to-school starting back up in the next couple of weeks, I wanted to highlight some hot trends to help your child look cool, confident and stylish for less.

The first place I wanted to start was in the pants department. With the end of summer on the horizon, we are about to make the transition from shorts to pants. This year, there are more and more options for kids, tweens and teenagers that won’t hassle your wallet.

Jeans have long been a staple in any child’s wardrobe. This year, the ‘skinny’ of it is that skinny jeans are in. Nordstrom features some great skinny jeans by True Religion, available for $106.

Jeans are not the only hot fashion this year. Everyone is embracing plaid Bermuda shorts as well. These are great for Spring Break, not to mention for lounging around. These are available in kids sizes as well as for teenagers and even adults. There are many different partner stores that carry Bermuda shorts. GapKids has them for around $26 per pair. Even Target carries Mossimo Bermuda shorts for around $13 – 18 depending on the style and even a few for $8, a steal if you ask me!

For those that don’t like to wear jeans all the time or even shorts when the weather turns cooler, leggings are also a must-have for girls. They can be worn with a long-flowy top (which I’ll cover in more detail tomorrow) or even underneath a denim skirt. The great thing about leggings is that you can add a touch or color to any outfit, as they are available in a variety of colors, not to mention, I found some at Target for between $6 and $10.

Visit Target and search: leggings

I also wanted to mention that Target is offering free shipping right now on a minimum order of $50.

Save time, save the hassle of finding a parking spot (not to mention, save gas), and go online to do your shopping and have it delivered right to your door!

Guy’s, I didn’t forget about you! If there is nothing more that a woman loves, it is to see their guy dressed up nicely. It could be simply a nice pair of jeans and a pressed dress shirt with a pair of loafers. At the beach (or during the summertime), it might be a polo shirt or even a pair of linen pants and a linen shirt.

Here’s a way to create a look that’s great for going out to dinner (or even out with friends). Guy’s, take note!

For starters, I started with a nice pair of relaxed fit pinstripe pants. These were available at Gap for $50. Visit Gap and search: pinstriped pants.

For shirts, you have a few different options. You could wear one of those white Brooks Brother’s tees that I mentioned earlier during the day, or pair these with a nice dress shirt like the BOSS ‘enzo’ shirt, which is available from Nordstrom for $95. This shirt is a great value, as it can also be worn with jeans.
Visit Nordstrom and search: hugo boss enzo.

Forgetting a belt is a no-no! While I was looking for a pair of pants, I came across the classic black leather belt for $25. Your look is almost complete!
Visit Gap and search: classic leather belt.

Having the right shirt along with a nice pair of pants, complete with belt, is good start. The last couple of items are necessities though. Often, we throw on a pair of shoes that are either worn out or do not go with our outfit. Over on Zappos, I found a pair of Fitzwell Barett’s for $85. Again, these can be worn in a variety of different ways. Either with jeans or out on a date, your shoes do catch a person’s eye, so make sure that they look clean and fit properly!
Visit Zappos and search: fitzwell barett.

To make sure that you are on-time for your date (or appointment or even a get-together), a watch is a must! Complete that classic, yet polished look with a Kenneth Cole Reaction Stainless Steel and leather strap watch, available for a low $78 from TheWatchery.com.
Visit TheWatchery.com and search: Kenneth Cole Stainless Steel.

While you’ve got the look (not to mention a few other more casual possibilities for later), upgrade that cell phone to a smartphone for calling your significant other or use it to get directions (this time, you don’t actually have to stop and ask, as most smartphones have a built-in GPS system), not to mention, it can point you to some great restaurants in the area as well! Why not try the Apple iPhone, available at Apple.com!
Visit Apple and search: iPhone

Put all that together and you are definitely headed in the right direction (thanks in part to that piece of technology you picked up), not to mention that new look that ooze’s sexiness and is sure to turn a few heads along the way!

Many of you have been asking where you can buy Ed Hardy apparel and accessories. While I was visiting Dillard’s today, I ran across Ed Hardy handbags, not to mention apparel and Ed Hardy accessories.

To really set off these outfits, pair them with a nice pair of jeans (why not Genetic Denim), to enhance your very best asset…and top them off with a nice pair of sunglasses like the Oakley Bottlecaps.

Together, you have nearly increased your look to near perfect!

Enjoy!

Loren

This week, I’ve given you a number of great options to consider for the upcoming Gala. Now that we have dresses and undergarments taken care of, I figure we’d move on to jewelry.

Everyone loves sparkly things, jewelry is no exception. Often times though, we wear things that are too big or add a very different look (kind of like going with modern furniture in your home, but having an antique chair in the middle of the room). Jewelry can look great when paired with the correct dress. It does not have to be sparkly nor does it have to be gaudy.

I found two particular pieces that I felt would look great with the dresses from Saks that I mentioned earlier. What I liked most about them was their uniqueness.

The first piece is a cuff bracelet. This bracelet is simple, yet does not take away from the overall look of your outfit. This bracelet also features an Onyx gemstone and is available in sterling silver as well as 14k gold for about $300 from James Avery.

The second piece that I found goes great with the second dress from Saks Fifth Avenue. Bangle bracelets have been around for quite some time. What is great about them though is that you can wear one or a few, going from a simplistic look to unique style all your own. These bangles are currently on sale from JewelBasket.com, ranging from $125 to $328 depending on the intricateness.

Remember, jewelry is an investment and each piece is unique!

Guy’s, I didn’t forget about you. Next week, I’ll show you some great fashion to keep you looking hot!

Yesterday, I mentioned a few great dresses for the Gala. While shoes and bags and jewelry add to any outfit, it is also important to wear the right undergarments. Herein lies a challenge.

Often, bras can be uncomfortable or pinch in the wrong places, making that elegant dress look like it needs to go to the cleaners to be ironed. Other times, we must rely on tape and other adhesives to keep everything situated. While I was perusing for dresses, I came across something much better than tapes and adhesives. They are made by Bust Free, an Australian based company.

I ordered a set the other day from our web portal for only $27! That is a great deal, considering we’ve spent more on bras that we end up throwing out after they lose their elasticity! I can also attest that they feel great and are extremely comfortable, not to mention form fitting which is nice. In addition, they don’t have any straps or wires and use your clothing to keep things in their place!

I hope everyone gets a set to go with their new dress! These are definitely one of my ‘centsible’ convention must-haves!
