Yesterday, I wrote about capes -- no, I'm not talking about becoming a certain super-hero (although I'm sure we all feel like we are at times, with all of the juggling we do on a daily basis).

Now until November 11/12, Gap is running a BOGO 50% off sale on select styles of men's, women's and maternity pants. This is a great time to pick-up a pair (or two -- since they are buy one, get one half-off) for the office, home or as a present.

I particularly liked the curvy welt-pocket pants and the perfect plaid trouser pants. These are both great for the office as well as for any business meetings you may have. Both were available for $60 each, but after the BOGO 50% off sale, the bill came to around $90. The plaid trouser pants would look divine with a chocolate-brown cape for those chilly winter nights.

You may remember this post on men's fashion. Looking great is not solely about being dressed in the latest designer duds. Rather, it is about dressing the part day in and day out -- in a way that fits your own unique style, yet not committing a fashion faux pas. Just recently, I finished a book by Alan Flusser, author of Dressing the Man: Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion. If you haven't had a chance to read it, it provides some great examples of fashion past and present and even has great insight on what "business casual" really means along with great reference material on coat sleeve lengths along with great pictures to help demonstrate the different styles.

Given the time of year, I'm sure many of you are in the market for new outerwear. Since outerwear is usually the finishing touch in putting together your fall/winter looks, you'll definetely want to pick up a few versatile and stylish pieces to get you through the cooler months.

One of my favorite outerwear silhouettes is the cape. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson have been spotted out-and-about recently wearing this same look! Kim's tweed cape is a good example of how to take a day look to night, and Jessica's fur-lined look is super-glamorous and formal.

Single ladies, take note! Move that little black dress to the back of your closets, and break out that fierce, sexy, red one! A new study conducted by the University of Rochester suggests that men prefer women in red because of the color's ability to trigger primal insticts that associate it with sex.

There's a new trend in menswear appropriately nicknamed, "mantyhose" (see below).

Mantyhose is a hybrid term, created to describe the masculine form of traditional women's tights (pantyhose). As all of us ladies know, "skinny" sillhouettes (leggings, skinny jeans, tights) have been a super-hot trend for quite some time now. Thousands of fashionable males love the skinny jeans look, so it only makes sense that designers would take the trend a step further into leggings- for- men territory.

This isn't the first time we've seen traditional female-wear translated to menswear--mandals, murses, and a slew of beauty products have contributed to the very lucrative gender-bending business. Products like "guyliner" and "manscara" have been flying off the racks thanks to high-profile endorsements from beauty-conscious celebrities such as Fall Out Boy member, Pete Wentz.

Los Angeles Fashion Week wrapped up last week leaving many memorable impressions behind. There were so many new designers who blew me away with their collections, but the "environmentally-friendly" designers were the true talk of the town. These are designers who focus on producing quality, fashion-forward, 100% organic/sustainable designs.

Several of the collections feature high-quality fabrics such as organic silks, which support a natual lifestyle. I especially enjoyed The Battalion collection by Linda and Chrys Wong, which features designs made from recycled fabric. Take a look at the following eco-chic showcase presented by Gen Art and Soy Joy:




The eco-chic movement is truly wonderful! You shouldn't have to compromise your values in order to look good!

Fashion is really about self-expression, aesthetics, and having fun! But more importantly, fashion is a true art form--so what better way to pay respect to the harmony that exists between fashion and art than this?

Renowned architect, Zaha Hadid, has created a mobile art exhibition containing several designs created by a variety of modern, contemporary artists. The designs are inspired by the iconic Chanel quilted handbag that was created by Mademoiselle Chanel 50 years ago!

I'm so excited about this because the traveling exhibit is making its only stop in the U.S. in Central Park until Nov. 9th! It will then move on to London, Moscow and Paris. This is a wonderful opportunity to see what will surely be considered an important piece of fashion history. Plus, admission is FREE, as long as you book in advance at the on-site ticket booth.

Yesterday, I got to see Jennifer and Marc and the twins. It was amazing seeing the twins and how much they have grown in such a short time. They are crawling all over the place, not to mention, cute and adorable. Emme already looks a lot like Jenn, so dainty and sweet and all girl. Max is acting more and more like a ball player already. If they would just let him go, he would probably start running. Max and Emme are such lucky children to be able to have such amazing parents in Jennifer and Marc.

I am sad to report that Richard Blackwell--better known as "Mr. Blackwell"--passed away Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of complications from an intestinal infection.

Mr. Blackwell was best known for inventing the annual "Worst Dressed" list, in which he candidly criticized celebrities' poor fashion choices. Part of his notoriety and appeal came from his brutally honest opinions, when it came to fashion. According to the times online, Blackwell once explained his position, “The list is and was a satirical look at the fashion flops of the year,” he said in 1998. “I merely said out loud what others were whispering . . . it’s not my intention to hurt the feelings of these people. It’s to put down the clothing they’re wearing.”

Blackwell famously critiqued everyone from Cameron Diaz to The Queen of England. For many years, Mr. Blackwell's annual list was a highly anticipated media event. There's no doubt that the fashion world will surely miss this icon.

Forget all of the old-fashioned rules you've heard against wearing blue eye makeup. This season's blue is bright, beautiful, and nowhere near outdated!

Celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Katie Holmes, Rihanna, and Beyonce are all great examples of ladies who know how to pull off the color. The key to this season's sophisticated eye, is to wear it with a nude lip, and be sure to blend, blend, blend!

It's also best practice to contrast your eye-color to your shadow/liner color--that way, your features won't get lost in the mix. Blue-eyed beauties can pull this look off too; just be sure to select a shade of blue that's different from your own.

Victoria Beckham is definetely a trendsetter--from her trademark asymmetrical bob haircut, to her fabulous handbag collection--it's no wonder she has continued to evolve into a modern-day style icon. Victoria's "posh" look is also heavily influenced by many classic styles including oversized sunglasses, mod prints, black and white, and clean lines.
