Stirrup pants are one of those trendy items that’s overtly tricky: What do you wear with them to make the overall effect look hip? One answer, it turns out, is ballet flats and a drapey sweatshirt, as demonstrated by Paris Hilton (shown here traveling with her boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt, in May). Another way she gets it right: Keeping everything in dark shades of black and charcoal.
Your turn: Would you ever wear stirrup pants – and if so, with what?

The right hair dryer can make or break a good hair day, so why is it that we all spend so little effort shopping for one (myself included!)? It’s a proven fact that good hair starts with a good blow dry: curls are bouncier, hair is shinier…you get the point. So, when my hair dryer of two years died last week, I decided to do a little a experimenting. I brought home three of the top dryers on the market to see what, exactly, makes a good hair dryer. Here’s what I found:
For a small dryer, this one has plenty of power and, most importantly, has a built-in guard that keeps hair from being sucked into the back end—anyone with long hair can attest to how painful an occurrence this is. But my main complaint is the shape: The wide nozzle disperses air in too wide of a radius, so you have no control over styling.
Verdict: Perfect for someone with very short hair that needs minimal fuss.

This style came with all the bells and whistles—a diffuser to create waves and an air concentrator for straightening. I used both, and though the diffuser created that perfect messy wave that I love, the hair dryer never got quite hot enough to get my hair really straight when I tried the air concentrator.
Verdict: My curly haired friends, this is your machine
