Shopping vintage instead of new is great – you are not only purchasing an item that has its own history, but you get the thrill of the hunt in the process. Sometimes the search for the perfect dress is just as fun as finding it! When I am looking to add a twist to a modern outfit, these are the websites I like to visit:

• Etsy is an online community where you can buy and sell just about anything. Over 400,000 vintage items – reasonably priced!
• ModCloth began by selling unique vintage items, but have also expanded into never-been-worn. Everything is in mint condition – even down to the shoes.
• Posh Girl Vintage has an amazing, and huge, selection of dresses, separates, outerwear, accessories, mens and kids.

• Rolling Stone Vintage is selective in their merchandise and carries edgy pieces from the 1960′s-80′s. You can even find items by top designers.
• Portero sells vintage items by couture designers like YSL, Valentino and Bottega Veneta. And their vintage jewelry from Cartier and Tiffany’s is gorgeous!
• Ebay is a great website for finding vintage and antique items from all over the world. Just be sure to double-check vendor credibility… you want to get what you payed for!
