Ever since Crystal Renn became the first plus size model to walk in a couture runway show (with the designer himself, Jean Paul Gaultier) back in 2006, I have been a huge fan. Crystal is a stunning 23-year-old woman that overcame an eating disorder to become an iconic plus size model. She has worked with recognizable names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Mango, Lane Bryant, Evans and Torrid, and has struck a pose in numerous fashion magazines all over the world. She was also featured in Glamour magazine’s “beauty revolution” – a hopeful jumpstart on the fashion and media world’s acceptance and promotion of the average American woman’s body (a size 14).

Whether you wear plus size clothing or not, Crystal Renn is a great role model that not only has fashion sense, but common sense. You can purchase her memoir, Hungry, at Barnes and Noble (a great holiday gift!).
