There are few beauty trends that leave me perplexed, and grey nail polish is one of them. On the one hand, I’m ready for everyone to give Lauren-Conrad-gothic-nails a rest, and grey seems the easiest next step. But I’m not totally sold on whether it’s at all flattering on hands and toes. I really want to love this shade: It’s great on clothes, and it’s been my eyeliner shade of choice as of late–Motives® Khol Eyeliner in steel, to be exact ;)
What do you think? Is grey the new black?
Love,
Loren

I started using black nail polishawhile back! I first saw it yes, on Lauren conrad, and fell in love with the fact her nails were black but she wasn’t dressed emo/gothic…I fell in love, now I use black and grey polish, which ever suits my mood! Grey I feel goes better with a wider range of clothing colors though! (pink, purple, blue, teal) I use just a flat grey nailpolish with a glitter metallic topcoat, cute!!!

I haven’t been able to understand the gothic look, and gray seems close enough to it. Why do women feel the need to find a deathly look fashionable?

Good information.
I came across many queries in several forums where people have been asking for advice on the best glue that can be used on nails and that is not only strong but also safe on nails. This was the same question I had sometime back when I used to apply nail gel myself. Initially the glue I got would never hold on the way it used to when done in the salon. I then came across the nail glue being sold on gel-nails which lasts very long and is pretty easy to apply. It provides a strong bonding for my nails and also does a great job in repairing the nail tips.
Most important of all is that this is strong glue I was actually looking out for and this is used by nail salons and nail artists for professional applications. It is available at a cheap price at gel-nails and I remember seeing it at a discount of 74% which is great. Maybe this can help if you also face problems relating to poor glue quality as I did earlier.

I think it looks fabulous on skin and hands. Especially on tanned skin tones. It can look a little gastly or deathly on paler and fairer complexions. But personally grey/pewter has always been my favorite color and I love how it looks on my nails also. I’ve never tried that YSL polish, but I use Mac Nightfall and China Glaze

Susan,
I’d suggest using a few softer pinks and lighter shades for Spring. Use what makes you feel good!

I LOVE the Motives® Khol Eyeliner in steel as well. I am a Motives Senior Consultant and so far everyone that tries this eyeliner falls in love too! Not so sure how I feel about grey nail polish!

Hm…..I just don’t know. Doesn’t seem that flattering. I always had a hard time with the gothic look.
Now that Spring has sprung, is it back to purples? I need something new in shades.
What would you recommend?

I think the grey is the new black, but still pairs with all black clothing very well. I have been wearing dark grey nail polish as of late and constantly receive favorable comments. I also have a lighter shade of grey that I love equally. Jane Weske, Milwaukee distributor
