How to Update Your Classics

What you can dig out of your grandmother’s or mother’s closet can really look chic when reworked and styled with other modern pieces. Here are a couple of ideas that I can’t wait to try out!

The Clip-on Earring: You have the option of either attaching an earring with a safety pin and wearing it as a brooch or using them as embellishment for your shoes. I think the leaf earrings below add the perfect fall touch.

The Pearl Necklace: A long strand of pearls can be layered or combined and twisted with gold chains or other necklaces you might already own.

What items in your closet have you been able to rework, and how?

  1. i have a pair of shoes that i bought with a clip on piece that changed the look just like this article suggests. i like it so much that i never wear the shoes without it.

i also love the layered chains/pearls look. however, layered chains always get tangled up on my neck and do not lay right. any suggestions for keeping chains tangle-free when they are on your neck? maybe it is my bone-structure. can’t/won’t do anything about that:)
