While their logo may somewhat of an anomaly — given the type of products that they carry, don’t let it fool you! It is cute and catchy and over the past few month, has kept me coming back to their site! Despite having started only one year ago, celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson, even my close friend, Jessica Simpson all shop there for their unique and trendy tops and dresses, denim, even accessories like the friendship bracelet that Lindsay and Sam were recently seen wearing in an issue of People Magazine. The store I’m talking about is called Chickdowntown and it is fast becoming one of the top stores to shop at for designer fashion!
If you haven’t had the opportunity to see some of their clothes, here’s a video of Spring/Summer trends from a fashion buyers perspective!
Love,
Loren

it’s not about pointing fingers here, Loren. it’s about you shutting out the voices that may be valuable to some of the readers who are thinking about buying from that store. the owner of that other blog has decided to take down those posts today and though i do not know why, the links to Better Business Bureau and complaintsboard.com are still valid and since they are legitimate websites they can serve as a good source of information for readers who are considering making their purchases at chickdowntown. but sadly you didn’t even give them the opportunity to decide for themselves.
and funny you should mention we all have different experiences. of course we do, which is exactly why i was so shocked to see my comments being taken down because mine was different from yours. i did not once use any obscene language in my comments and all i did was to alert you and other readers about this particular store.
i would have just stopped at my first comment had you not gone and taken it down and started accusing me of “defaming” the company and providing links to “my personal blog and soapbox” (talk about pointing fingers!). i have my reputation and integrity to protect. i will not tolerate anyone who uses their power to keep my opinions from the public and then goes and tell everybody that i have committed defamation so they could look good by making me look bad. your actions and those claims (about “defaming” chickdowntown and “providing links to my personal blog”) just simply do not have a leg to stand on in this case.

Sophia, again, we’re sorry that you have had issues with ordering from Chick Downtown.
Sure customers may have had issues with their orders at one time or another, but what company doesn’t have ordering issues every now and then?
We don’t know the entire story, therefore we chose to take down your comments. In addition, the links that you provided about Chick Downtown have all since been removed from the sites you referenced.
By the way, we aren’t affiliated with Chick Downtown, we just like the store and want to let our readers know that they are another option to consider when they go looking for a certain designer.
In regards to hearing all sides of the story first, I agree. The only thing though is that we haven’t heard from Chick Downtown and since we haven’t heard from them, I don’t feel it is necessary to point fingers, because we both have had different experiences with them.

first off, again, Loren, the links i provided are NOT to my personal blog. i left my comments with my blogspot ID which would automatically link you to my blogspot profile but the links i included in the comments are links to legitimate websites and a blog that Amy Reed the owner of chickdowntown has personally responded to — i thought the readers would want to hear what Amy Reed would have to say.
and i’m not here to discuss their lawsuit, i’m here simply giving people some cautionary advice so they won’t fall into that trap unknowingly, like many others have — those who have spent HOURS on the phone trying to get a hold of a chickdowntown rep and then days with their credit card company trying to reverse the charges for the merchandise that chickdowntown has failed to deliver.
it’s not about being perfect, Loren. it’s about a company’s integrity and basic business ethics. without that, a company is NOTHING.
i’m extremely saddened by your accusing me of “defaming” chickdowntown when all i did was to provide information that some consumers may not have been aware of. i’ve been wondering why you are so afraid of people speaking ill of a company you are personally not associated with? is there something that you are hiding? i don’t know that. but you are out there promoting the store and it’s your duty to let your readers see all sides of the story. and not just your side.

Sophia, sorry that you have had issues with Chick Downtown. While I can’t vouch for any issues with them on my end (I’ve had nothing but success), not everyone’s perfect and so there may be a few problems from time to time, but that shouldn’t detract from someone shopping with them.
While we welcome comments about the store (and your likes and dislikes), this isn’t the proper place to discuss a pending lawsuit over a building lease or to provide a link off to your own personal blog. That is why I removed your posts that contained that info.

it’s just really sad to see you are taking down comments that are neither offensive nor defamatory/inappropriate. i will re-post my comments (ones that you’ve removed) and yours on my blog some time this month and let others decide if i am defaming chickdowntown. i ordered from them once and it is true that they charged my card up front and never sent me any form of confirmation emails. and it is true that the merchandise arrived looking differently from the one being sold on net-a-porter.com. and for these three reasons i will never shop with them again.

MyFashionCents.com readers, wanted to let you know that I took the last comment down because they were defaming Chick Downtown. I for one, have had nothing but success with ordering from Chick Downtown. The same thing goes for other readers, so I can’t allow someone else to post comments related to a lawsuit that we aren’t familiar with, let alone links to their own personal blog and soapbox. We also have not had any other readers complain to us about any issues with their site at this point. We are cautious as well as selective about who we promote. Of course, if there is a problem with any store, we promote that can be substantiated, we will not hesitate to not promote that store, as we love our readers and have their best interests in mind.
