Here I’d just written about the style challenge of wearing pink and red at once – when along comes French actress Audrey Tatou to show us how it’s done. Her recent, red-carpet Lanvin look has the right idea: Pair a dress in a soft, flattering, definitely-not-saccharine shade of rose with bright, cherry-red accessories.

Do you think you’ll take a walk on the wild side and pair these two together sometime? I might give it a try…

Everyone’s favorite Project Runway designer has officially come out with an affordable line for Payless. Christian Siriano for Payless features shoes and bags that, in my opinion, look great! Definitely a less expensive option when it comes to trendy footwear. My favorites:

Downtown Zip Sandal $34.99

Saunter Flat $29.99

Cove Large Shopper $39.99

Happy Saturday morning :) So I’m asking if you would carry a see-through purse because I’m on the fence about buying one. I love the concept, but then again, would this make me a target for robbers? Plus, where would I put my gum wrappers?

Spiegel Transparent Tote $49.00
Shopbop, See by Chloe Zip File Large Tote $195.00

Saks Fifth Avenue, Prada Plex & Spazzolato Tote $1295.00

I freaked out when I saw this picture of Renee Zellwegger at the Berlin film festival – it’s the same fitted sheath that we’re used to seeing on her, but the sleeves channel a Renaissance princess and somehow take the whole effect to an edgier new place. The trick to pulling off a bubble sleeve is to keep the rest of your outfit quite simple: by virtue of their shape, the sleeves have a lot going on.

So, the bell sleeve: pro or con?

Here are some rules to finding the perfect pair of trousers for your specific shape. I know it can be stressful, but you need to try on a lot of different pairs before you can truly understand what works for you! My guidelines:
- If you have a straight shape, low-rise trousers are a godsend. They fit your hips without throttling you at the waist. If you like a slightly higher rise, try Cynthia Rowley’s collection or the City Fit trousers at J.Crew – they offer a waist-to-hip ratio that’s perfect for boyish shapes.
- If you have curves, look for trousers with legs that fall straight. Anything too tapered will make you look top-heavy; anything too wide at the bottom will make you look big all over. Lines at the Gap and Land’s End tend to understand (and flatter) a womanly figure.
- If you’re tall or petite, shop stores like Talbots or Ann Taylor, which offer trouser cuts designed specifically designed with your height requirements in mind.
Lindsay Fabric Cropped Pants (petite) $89.50
