Would You Carry A See-Through Purse?

February 27th // 5 Comments

Happy Saturday morning :) So I’m asking if you would carry a see-through purse because I’m on the fence about buying one. I love the concept, but then again, would this make me a target for robbers? Plus, where would I put my gum wrappers?

Yay or Nay? Renee Zellwegger Rocking the Bubble Sleeve

February 26th // 2 Comments

I freaked out when I saw this picture of Renee Zellwegger at the Berlin film festival – it’s the same fitted sheath that we’re used to seeing on her, but the sleeves channel a Renaissance princess and somehow take the whole effect to an edgier new place. The trick to pulling off a bubble sleeve is to keep the rest of your outfit quite simple: by virtue of their shape, the sleeves have a lot going on.

So, the bell sleeve: pro or con?

Shop Smarter: How to (once and for all) Find Trousers That Fit!

February 26th // Comment Here

Here are some rules to finding the perfect pair of trousers for your specific shape. I know it can be stressful, but you need to try on a lot of different pairs before you can truly understand what works for you! My guidelines:

  • If you have a straight shape, low-rise trousers are a godsend. They fit your hips without throttling you at the waist. If you like a slightly higher rise, try Cynthia Rowley’s collection or the City Fit trousers at J.Crew – they offer a waist-to-hip ratio that’s perfect for boyish shapes.
  • If you have curves, look for trousers with legs that fall straight. Anything too tapered will make you look top-heavy; anything too wide at the bottom will make you look big all over. Lines at the Gap and Land’s End tend to understand (and flatter) a womanly figure.
  • If you’re tall or petite, shop stores like Talbots or Ann Taylor, which offer trouser cuts designed specifically designed with your height requirements in mind.

What is your shape and where to you go for the perfect pant?

A Marriage Made in Indie Heaven: Alexa Chung for Madewell

February 26th // Comment Here

Sometimes designer collaborations just make sense, and in this case, the fit is so perfect it could have been planned for decades. If Alexa Chung is the indie darling of the fashion world, then Madewell is its current brand of choice. So to have these two style-setting entities putting out a collection together seems pretty foolproof, no? I got a sneak peek recently and the lineup of sweetly translated basics couldn’t be cuter: ankle-length skirts, printed tees, day coats.

The sad news is the line doesn’t hit stores until August. Boo. But on the bright side, Madewell’s site will be shoppable by then!

Loren
