Since we just celebrated a holiday that officially kicks off the summer season, I thought I would whip up a post on do-it-yourself pedicures! No matter if you’re low on time or cash because I promise that if you follow these tips your toes will look just like you went to the spa :)

1. Soak. Don’t you just love soaking your feet while at the salon? You can repeat this same step at home by filling a bowl (large enough for both feet) with warm/hot water, 1 cup of epsom salt and 1 peppermint or chamomile tea bag.
2. Scrub. Next, use a pumice stone and your favorite exfoliating scrub to scrub your feet soft.
3. Hydrate. Remember your feet when moisturizing! Rub in some hydrating lotion and massage oil into your cuticles – I like coconut oil best.
4. Prepare. Don’t skip this step, regardless of how tempted you may be to do so! If you put in a little extra effort your pedicure will last much longer. You must wipe polish remover onto nails to remove lotion residue, etc. And remember to separate toes with foam separators.
5. Polish. I normally use two coats of polish with a swipe of clear on top. Wait a few minutes in between applying each layer to avoid streaks or clumps.
Do you prefer getting a pedicure at the salon or DIY?
