Notes from the Tents: The Fur Debate

February 15th // 2 Comments

It’s only been a few days since Olympic men’s figure skater Johnny Weir announced he was replacing the fox fur on his custom-made costume for a faux version after receiving death threats from anti-fur activists. So I thought that tension might have an effect on fashion week. But if anything, the opposite proved to be true. Tiny little fur accents seemed to be on everything from gloves to wrap dresses to bags.

Where do you weigh in on the debate?

I understand, but I live in the North and when it’s cold I am so very glad i have two nice furs to keep me toasty warm and gorgeous.

Cushne et ochs doesn’t need the fur sweater. The fox tails are unimaginative and karen walker bag could be done in faux. the cloche could be done in velvet and I can’t tell what the scarf is but I do like the look.
    I’m a little bit of a hedonist.

I’m laying here with two Chihuahuas asleep on me reading this. There is no way I could wear fur. It’s not fashionable and when you see how these animals are raised and killed just for a bit of fashion, it’s absolutely cruel.

Plus, these days with all the technology and means at are disposable, we can create fake fur that looks and feels better than the real thing.

Sorry Loren, but you asked. ;-)
