Watching these award shows every weekend has me thinking about long, deep necklines. I am all for showing off your assets, but where is the line drawn between sexy and inappropriate? Tell me what you think about these celebs and their plunging necklines on the red carpet – Mariah Carey and Olivia Wilde at the Golden Globes and Beyonce at last night’s Grammy Awards.

Loren

I think you should keep some of your mystery! Not only was I offended by Mariah’s dress – but embarrassed that my 14 year old son got such an eyeful.

They don’t call it “show” business for nothing!

Mariah looked ridiculous in that dress, and it was only made worse because she was sitting at the dinner table at the Golden Globes and it looked like her melons were part of the menu. Gross!
Olivia Wilde however, was a different story altogether, her plunging neckline was not too revealing. I think the smaller the breasts the more plunging a neckline can be. Think Kate Hudson, she does it best.
Then finally, Beyonce. I think her neckline was on the border of tasteful. I think the geometric embossed print and structure of her dress were so overpowering that the plunging neckline was needed as a counterpoint. I did not think that her breasts should have been pushed up and out quite as much though. Skin is what she needed, not cleavage.

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of this no matter who the person is. I just think it shows a lack of class and nobody wants to have/see the “wardrobe malfunction” that accompanies these sort of necklines. Keep ‘em covered ladies and leave it to the imagination.

I may be old fashioned but… I think anything lower than the bottom of the breast is too low. It’s also too distracting and takes away from the rest of the look.

It’s great if the dress is great. But if the dress is all about the boobage, like the Mariah Carey pic, it just doesn’t work for me.

I think it is sick and sad. A woman who is beautiful should not feel she has to show so much of her self she could be considered a hooker on a corner. I don’t care how pretty the dress is!

I enjoy the plunging neck line. But I think the only classy way to pull it off is with a slim figure and small chest. Unfortunately the bustier you are the more attention it brings and can be distracting. Which makes it a bit trashy. I say this as a sad fact bc Im on the bustier side and WISH I could pull the look off.

I think it all depends on your size. A severe neckline on a woman with a smaller cup size can be very chic- but a larger size (like Mariah Carey) looks inappropriate. JLo always seems to pull it off well :)

I think it’s too much. More subtle would be sexier. My opinion.

Gone too far! Necklines cut down to the waist? Just not as flattering..Mariah…eek!! How does she think that looks good? Beyonce much classier being less revealing.

Mariah looks awful. Olivia doesn’t look that bad, but I’m getting so tired of Beyonce wearing the same snug style dress over and over again. She’s got a beautiful body, yes we know that, but leave a little to the imagination. Give us some other style.

I haven’t seen a neckline at one of these award shows that I didn’t approve of. It’s an award show. They are all trying to outdo the other and take things to the next level. I love it!!!!!!
