A couple of weeks ago I announced that New York-based Thakoon Panichgal was among the trio of fashion designers delving into the world of jewelry design. His diffusion collection for the luxury Japanese label, Tasaki, has been top secret…until now. The WWD posted the first photo from the collection last week and got a quick interview with the designer about his inspiration: “I really wanted to just go back to the DNA of what Tasaki’s about, which is beautiful pearls, beautiful materials and beautiful diamonds,” Panichgal told reporters.
“It’s working with the materials, making them feel a bit more sculptural as well, and modern.” The collection of two-finger pearl rings and draping lariat necklaces starts at $5,500 and travels all the way up to $40,000 and won’t be available for purchase until April 22nd, when Tasaki’s new Tokyo store is complete. At least we all have plenty of time to start saving!
