Have you ever seen the film The Devil Wears Prada? Think back to the scene where Meryl Streep tells Anne Hathaway that her blue bargain bin sweater is a direct descendant of the cerulean blue featured on the runway. It’s very true – many of the deals and steals I write about here on MyFashionCents are somewhat inspired by the designs that make their way down the catwalk. That said, here are some photos from Paris Fashion Week: Haute Couture 2010.
Giorgio Armani Prive:

Christian Dior:

Bouchra Jarrar:

I see metallics + feminine draping, florals + Alice in Wonderland and clean lines + solid colors.
How do think these couture elements will be adapted for the masses come fall/winter?
Lots of love,

These beautiful styles should translate very well to the mass market, without much change. That is except for Dior’s Alice in Wonderland fantasies. They remind me of a dress worn by one of the dancers on “So You Think You Can Dance,” who was portraying Mother Earth. The judges we not impressed! For this to work for the general public, it will have to be greatly down-played. Maybe keeping the bright colors and sheer layers and losing the volume, which does not flatter.
