The first time I saw Katie Holmes step out in cut-off jean shorts and black tights, I have to say I wasn’t sold. But the whole shorts-and-tights trend is sort of growing on me—like beat up boyfriend jeans. It has a certain preppy-rocker feel that’s contagious. Plus, I love any chance I get to wear spring clothes before the weather necessarily calls for them. What do you think?

Actually I love this style personally. I’m finishing a semester studying abroad in Japan and it’s currently all the rage here (it’s actually rare to see a girl in a skirt or shorts with bare legs). The tights let the shape of the leg be flattered while hiding any blemishes and missed spots while shaving.

I think it’s cute, but am I too old for it at 42. Mind you, with OPC and the fabulous Cellular Laboratories line I do look much younger.
