JR and I in Aventura Magazine!

February 16th // 3 Comments

I think this article is really sweet (especially with Valentine’s Day this past weekend) – it’s a feature called “The Power of Two” in Aventura Magazineall about couples who are a team in their personal and professional lives! JR and I talk about how we are able to live and work together, our complimentary personalities and how we keep the romance :)

Here’s the interview:

Some couples say they could never work together because it would drive them crazy. What is the key to making it work?

JR: Loren grew up in the business and she met me in business. I taught her everything I know. Now she knows everything and I can’t tell her anything. That results in debates, or “discussions.” I am a bit of a visionary and pioneer and Loren is a marketing genius. We are entrepreneurs and complement each other perfectly. I don’t think you can make it happen. The key is that work is play to us—we are having fun.

How do you turn off the “work” talk when you’re on personal time?

Loren: We work hard and play hard. We can change channels at will. We live life to the fullest business wise, family-wise, fun-wise, social-wise, love-wise, friend-wise, charity-wise and travel-wise. We are passionate and spontaneous, so we talk about what we want to talk about and if it is the wrong time to talk about something we agree to do it later.

What activities do you enjoy together to reconnect on a romantic level?

JR: We travel to incredible places. We go yachting. We venture out to fabulous restaurants. We discovered that variety is the spice of life and we live in three places that are totally different, that we love. And we mess around like a couple teenagers. We are silly. Loren has a great sense of humor.

What is it about your personalities that makes your partnership work well?

JR: Loren is outgoing and vivacious. I am driven and focused, but a little shy until I get to know someone. We both love people and tell it like it is, but we try to find the humor in everything. We both can do what the other does, but we are better at different things. Loren worries about everyone around her. I worry more about us and our objectives. It balances well.

What advice would you give young couples thinking of working together in order to keep the partnership harmonious at work and at home?

Loren: Have fun! Capitalize on each other’s strengths and isolate or minimize each other’s weaknesses. Always keep growing. When you stop growing, it’s over. If it doesn’t work, don’t quit on each other—do different things. It is a minor miracle when you can work together and live together too. It’s a matter of finding the right formula for you.

My girls Adriana Castro and Jennifer Lopez are also featured with their hubbies, so go pick up a copy!

Love,

Loren
