How young is too young for modeling? The latest models you’ve spotted in your favorite fashion editorials are getting younger and younger. Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber is only ten years old and modeling for Versace’s kid line while Kate Moss’ 13-year-old sister Lottie Moss is dressed for a different age group all together.
Should young girls be allowed to model clothing marketed for adults? Not only is it unrealistic for a woman to look like a middle schooler in her new dress, but it’s also irresponsible. According The High Low, “the organization Model Alliance discovered that around 30% of models have been sexually harassed, while a rocking 50% have been exposed to cocaine.” Do we really need our children around this? Modeling and acting are amazing, fulfilling careers but if they are not carefully monitored it could pose a potential problem! What is appropriate? How young is too young for modeling? Modeling for their age group is okay. But with all the humans dirty secrets that we are faced with (abduction, sex slaves, human trafficking, exploiting young people), can’t we be a stand for children to be innocent, playful and carefree? There is no integrity in a 13 year old modeling for women’s clothing.

I think they’re both too young to be dressed and presented like that. 10-year-olds should be playing in the backyard. Let kids be kids.
