If the photographer had stopped at the base of the neck then this would be truly beautiful art. Take your hand, cover up her body and look at the hat, her face, and the long beautiful neck and I suspect you will say WOW. The rest is OK but nothing to rave about.

Ladies……I was quite sure that most people would look at this from an “art” point of view. My intent is to not offend either you Jill or Kumi. I totally understand it from an artist point of view and that is part of my point. Why, for the sake of art, does nudity have to be highlighted? I know that nudity is one way to express art, but I don’t happen to think that it’s necessary, that’s all. As for putting aside my morals, I think that is part of the problem. Why would I want or need to do that for the sake of art? In my opinion, I believe there are far too many people that put aside their morals for way too many things. I don’t compromise my values of morals for anything and maybe that is something most people don’t understand. I am a parent as well and have found it frustrating to teach my children values and morals in such a sexually saturated society. It has made my job much more difficult than it needed to be. There is constant push back to be like the majority of their peers who dress, talk and act inappropriately. We can and need to teach our children at home, the values and morals that reflect decency, but the pervasaivness of anything goes is very hard to make those values stick. I think we need to ask ourselves “Why is that”? I worked in a high school and was shocked by what I heard and saw on a daily basis and if we contiunue to do such things in the name of art and say it’s acceptable, then things aren’t going to change. Art is just one way to keep the sexualization alive for our youth. I wasn’t wanting to make this the issue it has become, so I will end it here and stick to my morals, thank you very much.

I love beautiful things & have always loved fashion magazines, though I’m not interested in buying expensive brand-clothing at all. Sure, as a mother of a daughter, I feel media puts out the message that only skinny girls like models are the standard of beauty, but I think what we parents teach kids at home can give them the foundation that that is not true. I just look at the fashion photography as a form of art.

Sorry I hit the ‘like” by accident. In regards to the lower photo, remove your morals for a second and look at it from a visual perspective. The balance of the pink hat with the pure skin is tasteful and balanced, I think that is what the photographer had in mind. Totally complex hot color with lots of shapes and swirls and texture, balanced with the purity and simplicity of skin, I like it a lot. There is nothing sexual about it. I appreciate your concern about kids being exposed to the rampant sexualization they are being spoon-fed in this culture, but this is tastefully done, in my opinion.

Not a fan of these types of magazines i.e. Glamour, Vogue, Teen and some others that slip my mind at the moment. Fashion mags are always trying to out do one another to take fashion to the next level of bizarre, ridiculous, too sexy or TMI. I don’t need to know about erotica nor do our children so that they can elevate things in life that aren’t important or necessary. I think far too many people forget we are raising a future generation here and what do we want to teach them?! Just have other things to invest my time in other than looking at magzines, that in the name of fashion, portray woman in the light of being scantily clothed or nude. I do however enjoy fashion, just not to the level designers/photographers have taken it to. The point of Gaga posing nude, in only a hat, even though some may think it is “tatefully done” is……? So that is the point of fashion in this picture- a hat? What does her posing nude have to do with fashion, if that is what they are illustrating? Whether or not a woman has a picture perfect body, which is another issue, a woman can still look sexy without showing so much skin or am I, unfortunately, in the minority here? Are there not other picutres of her wearing clothes that you could have highlighted here? Disappointed Loren. I see this as part of the problem. I guess one of us need to be enlightened.
