This spring is gearing up to be a pretty big season for beauty trends. People are taking bigger risks with color and application. Marion Cotillard, looking stunning in sparkly blue shadow and shimmery pink lips, delved right into two of the season’s biggest hits—colored shadow and pale lips—and made it look easy. Here’s why it worked:
1. The shade of blue she chose for her eyes was bold, but had enough gray tones to balance out the brightness. Try Motives Pressed Eyeshadow in Blueberry Frost to get the same results.

Done right, silver eye shadow has a strikingly cool, luxurious feel. I love using it as a sheer wash on the brow-bone for a subtle highlight, or mixing it with navy or rich burgundy liner for a strikingly contemporary take on the smoky eye. Silver works especially well at playing up brown or hazel eyes – the coolness of the shadow brings out the warmth of darker eyes in the most beautiful way. What do you think of this shade on Angelina Jolie? Gorgeous, in my opinion.

March 20, 2010 was the annual Celebrity Fight Night – an amazing night that honored Muhammad Ali and raised $5 million dollars for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center (and numerous other charities) in Phoenix, AZ where the event took place. I was thrilled to have Motives be a part of such an important cause – our cosmetics were a featured part of the donated gift bags for the evening!
Muhammad Ali himself was there, including Reba McEntire, Danica Patrick, Randy Jackson and many, many other celebrities who came out to support and help “win the fight for charities”.

I saved this photo of Amanda Seyfried to my desktop a few weeks ago, because I loved the color combination she used on her lips. It’s sort of a shimmery peach-y, bronze-y, berry shade that much to my annoyance has taken me this long to figure out how to mix myself.
But thankfully, I got to the bottom of it and here is the winning technique:
