There were two big lip-color trends at the shows: daring red-pink (cue Best Actress nominees Sandra Bullock and Vera Farmiga) and ever-so-soft, glossy mauve (see Rachel McAdams and Anna Kendrick). Each tone makes a huge difference in its own beautiful way.

Karen Elson is one of my favorite models. Off duty, she runs an amazing vintage shop called Venus and Mars: The Showroom in Nashville, where she lives with her husband Jack White of the White Stripes and is currently recording her first album.
So to say that Karen Elson is cool is an understatement. And her boundary-pushing personality plays a huge part in her beauty picks as well. Here, she manages to pull off two seemingly at odds shades—pale orange eyeshadow and pinkish-red lips—and makes it look simple. The feel is certainly quirky, but as long as you go easy on the mascara and blush the end result has a pretty, I-make-my-own-rules vibe.

On Saturday night, I attended the 42nd Annual Miami Heart and Stroke Ball that was hosted by the American Heart Association – which you all know is very important to me and that I support the AHA with Motives® Go Red Rich Formula Lipstick. I took a look at Bethany’s YouTube channel, Macbarbie07, and completely fell in love! This was definitely something I would have done at her age – so unique and and cutting edge. Bethany’s latest segment is on Motives, which I thought was important to share with you all because it’s from a young woman’s point of view.
