31-year-old actress Rachel McAdams was photographed leaving her hotel yesterday in NYC to run some errands, and looked quite chic while doing so. But let me tell you, it has been hot here in New York the past few days! I think Rachel’s outfit is a simple example of how you can still look polished even when the heat index just keeps on rising:

There were two big lip-color trends at the shows: daring red-pink (cue Best Actress nominees Sandra Bullock and Vera Farmiga) and ever-so-soft, glossy mauve (see Rachel McAdams and Anna Kendrick). Each tone makes a huge difference in its own beautiful way.

The Academy Awards’ color of the moment: Icy-cool silver, as sported by Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie, Rachel McAdams, Sandra Bullock and Helen Mirren. This gleaming metallic definitely speaks to my girly instincts and adds a beautiful sparkle to every skin tone.

So who do you think wins best-dressed at the Sherlock Holmes premiere? Jude Law (dark suit, dark t-shirt), Rachel McAdams (low-slung LBD with a sequined bodice) or Robert Downey, Jr. (in brown tweed with a mauve tie and shirt).
