There were two big lip-color trends at the shows: daring red-pink (cue Best Actress nominees Sandra Bullock and Vera Farmiga) and ever-so-soft, glossy mauve (see Rachel McAdams and Anna Kendrick). Each tone makes a huge difference in its own beautiful way.

Rules were made to be broken, right? And who came up with the one about “not wearing white after Labor Day” anyway?! I happen to really love the idea of winter whites. Here is a photo of Vera Farmiga at the LA premier of Up in the Air in a beautiful, white Dolce & Gabbana gown.

As for other ways to wear winter white: layering is key. Take a white mini dress, add some black tights and a pair of booties and throw on a faux fur vest or a long cardigan – instant chic.
