Lots of leg is to be expected for warm weather, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how many collections included more modest lengths at New York Fashion Week this year. With show after show after show happening at NYFW, it can sometimes feel like fabulous fashion overload. But then a collection catches your eye, and you just can’t imagine having to wait months before wearing such a perfect ensemble! For spring 2013, Zac Posen, Altuzarra, and Diane von Furstenberg lit up the runway for me – I am just captivated by this sophisticated (but very different) mix of prints, patterns and textures. Zac Posen: Uber-glamorous mixed with retro silhouettes and flirty details like off the shoulder styles, soft pleats and miles of chiffon. (+ supermodel sighting Naomi Campbell!)

Altuzarra: Fantasy mix of masculine and feminine, interesting and never before seen blend of Middle Eastern and Elizabethan influences

NYFW: Four Fresh Suit Ideas for Spring 2013

I’ve never been a huge fan of the plain, black suit – if you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, then you know I would rather wear leggings and a blazer or a fun short suit. With New York Fashion Week well under way, I’ve been keeping an eye on fresh suit ideas for spring 2013 and found a few I really love! Bold prints at Band of Outsiders and Helmut Lang and a chic take on white at Rag and Bone and Jason Wu.

Who knew a leather harness could look sexy and sweet? Most of the BCBG spring 2013 collection featured a compelling combination of leather, lace and romantic dresses and jumpsuits that hit below the knee. There was a dominating color palette of black and white, pastel pinks, neutrals and a pop of color with coral. Structural elements are also big for fall and will be carrying over into spring of next year in the form of strong shoulders and silk cutouts along the bodice.

Are you feeling the way BCBG incorporated a leather harness for their spring 2013 collection? BCBG is a favorite of mine because their pieces are so wearable and I think Amber would look amazing in one of these ensembles!
