Solid-color dresses ruled at the Academy Awards – just look at Twilight stars Anna Kendrick and Kristen Stewart. I lean towards one color gowns myself, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s strapless, Impressionist-print sheath by Dries Van Noten. Just the fact that she wore a print set her apart, and now I feel inspired to step out of the box with my clothing choices next time I go to an event!

As you know, I’m perpetually in search of incredibly sexy, glamorous shoes that I won’t feel like talking off in a couple of hours. These are my ideal: the cutest, most comfortable spring heels — possibly ever.

I’m really into interesting prints for spring – and these light, techno tie-dye prints look hippie-ish and arty in the sexiest way. The design of this Tory Burch top is especially flattering: The way the stripes radiate from the top creates a wonderfully waist-whittling effect.

Two others I’m loving right now:
ASOS, Karen Millen Tie Dye Stripe Tshirt $85.39
Macy’s, Mis Chievous Top Tie Dye Scoopneck $19.99

This is a tough call: Johnny Depp usually rules all style-related contests. Yet in her liquidy bronze goddess gown, Anne Hathaway looked prettier and more sophisticated than ever. And there’s something so dreamy and delicate about newcomer Mia Wasikowska’s lace-applique gown. Finally, there’s Helena Bonham-Carter, dressing true to both her Queen of Hearts character and her characteristically offbeat dress sense.

I noticed a special focus on collage dresses this spring, so I ask: Do you find them enviably cool and sophisticated? Or way too high-concept? And if you were to make a collage dress, what would you use?

I think the fabrics and color scheme of the dress is beautiful!

Reese Witherspoon must be, hands, down, the coolest errand-runner in L.A. She consistently wears some hip, offbeat combination of skinny pants and pointed flats that suits her style and manages to be super-comfortable at the same time.

Here I’d just written about the style challenge of wearing pink and red at once – when along comes French actress Audrey Tatou to show us how it’s done. Her recent, red-carpet Lanvin look has the right idea: Pair a dress in a soft, flattering, definitely-not-saccharine shade of rose with bright, cherry-red accessories.

How to get the look for less:

Happy Saturday morning :) So I’m asking if you would carry a see-through purse because I’m on the fence about buying one. I love the concept, but then again, would this make me a target for robbers? Plus, where would I put my gum wrappers?

Shopbop, See by Chloe Zip File Large Tote $195.00

Saks Fifth Avenue, Prada Plex & Spazzolato Tote $1295.00
