Long, sweeping and strapless were adjectives to define the majority of dresses seen on the red carpet last night. I thought Miley Cyrus (wearing Jenny Packham) and Penelope Cruz (wearing Donna Karan) looked stunning in this trend. The style of Miley’s top kept the design youthful enough for her, don’t you think?

Some celebs took risks and rocked huge accents, like the multicolored train on Zoe Saldana’s Givenchy gown or Jennifer Lopez’s icy Armani Privé creation – the neckline detail is gorgeous!

Some looked inspired by the Academy Award statue itself – take note Sandra Bullock (wearing Marchesa) and Kate Winslet (wearing YSL):

And last but not least, my worst dressed picks! I thought that the silhouette of Charlize Theron’s plum gown looked lovely on her, however the color – and the roses on her chest area? – were all wrong! Mariah Carey also gets my vote for Worst Dressed. I felt as though the off-the-shoulder and high slit were too much for one dress, and overall, was definitely not Oscar worthy.

Do you have a best or worst dressed pick of your own? Who?

How often do you get to buy something that’s wildly of-the-moment yet feel confident that you’ll wear it forever? Such is the appeal of the tailored shirt dress, which is at once huge for spring and utterly timeless. Not to mention, versatile: You can wear it with bare legs and sandals, or over jeans or leggings, and it truly works for every age. I’m partial to flattering, belted styles like this one from Victoria’s Secret ($68).

Who else is buying this dress immediately??
Lots of love,
Loren
Custo Barcelona (one of my favorites!!) just debuted its “Hairy Metal” autumn/winter 2010-11 collection at New York Fashion Week and I have to say, I was so impressed! The metallic colors contrasted with faux fur and comfy fabrics completely floored me… so unique and different from what I’ve seen on the runways lately. I am in love with all three of these looks!

This has the perfect ratio of edgy and feminine

Huge scarves are my number one winter accessory and the bright color makes it even better

This dress is sexy – Enough said.
What do you guys think? Will you be taking inspiration from the new Custo Barcelona line?
xoxox,
Loren
What will you be getting your loved ones for the most romantic holiday of the year? If you’re unattached, do you buy yourself a gift instead (of course!)? I came across this bouquet at Bare Necessities and I thought it was so unique – a perfect gift for the woman in your life:

Hanky Panky Long Stem Lovin’ Low Rise Thong Bouquet $130
If you’re not into getting some boxers for your man (that seems to be a staple v-day gift), try something a little different… If he likes to ski, why not get him a season pass to the nearest mountain? Or if he has always wanted to learn how to sail, get him a gift certificate for lessons. These gifts are personal and meaningful because they are directed at his interests. Us girls, however, are very happy with flowers, candy and a romantic dinner :)

Loren

Who else watched the Golden Globes over the weekend? Honestly, the celebrity outfits are my favorite part, but I was somewhat disappointed in the overall fashion on the red carpet this year. I did think Fergie looked amazing though! The lavender color and beaded waist look gorgeous on her. Purple was huge on the red carpet at this event!

I also thought Drew Barrymore’s dress was like a work of art – except for the extra piece on the hip! Sort of ruined the whole look for me.

Penelope Cruz won Best Dressed on E! Fashion Police last night… what do you think? Agree/disagree?

And for the worst dressed… E! voted for Tina Fey. I have to say – I thought the bodice looked great on her frame, however, I find the length and bottom of the dress unattractive.

Which outfits did you love? Hate? Did you even watch??
Lots of love,
Loren
Velvet jackets are perfect for these deep dark months – they’re very sharp and wintry-lush. Plus, they come in an interesting variety of colors this season (check out the options at Macy’s and Bluefly). I love a velvet jacket with a fitted shape, like this luxurious plum one from Victoria’s Secret:
Victoria’s Secret Velvet Blazer $79.99
And yes, I’ll be wearing mine with a shirt!
Love,
Loren
