Fashion Tips - Capes Create Instant Glamour

Given the time of year, I'm sure many of you are in the market for new outerwear. Since outerwear is usually the finishing touch in putting together your fall/winter looks, you'll definetely want to pick up a few versatile and stylish pieces to get you through the cooler months.

One of my favorite outerwear silhouettes is the cape. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson have been spotted out-and-about recently wearing this same look! Kim's tweed cape is a good example of how to take a day look to night, and Jessica's fur-lined look is super-glamorous and formal.

While Kim Kardashian's tweed belted cape probably costs several hundred dollars, you can achieve a similar look with a Cejon Belted Cape from Bloomingdale's for around $125. If you want the same look for less, New York & Company has a similar tweed cape for only $90.96!

On a side note, while I was browsing our partner stores for capes, I came across some really great deals on outerwear over at Overstock.com. They have tons of great coats at deep discounts!

Happy Shopping!

Loren

FashionCents Style Tips – Pants…the long and short of it!

In continuing with our FashionCents Style Tips this week, today we wanted to focus on pants and shorts for Dad!

Yesterday, I mentioned how sandals and socks do not go together. The same thing can be said about jeans and shorts or jorts as they are commonly referred to. Jean shorts do not count as shorts, especially cut-offs. While they may be great for working around the yard, they don’t quite cut it when you’re going out.

For years, I had to constantly beg JR to get rid of his jean shorts. When I finally did, he didn’t realize what he had been missing out on. Shorts can come in many different styles. There are cargo shorts, linen shorts and the standard khaki pleated pair of shorts, not to mention shorts for working out that help wick-away sweat. While all of these shorts have a different application, many of them can be worn with a pair of sandals that I mentioned earlier, to help create a nice outfit that is both attractive and comfortable.

Since this is all about Dad this week, I wanted to bring to your attention a few great deals (not to mention, stores) that are available on the web portal.

First up is Macy’s. Remember how I mentioned that Born shoes were extremely comfortable? Try these Herringbone shorts from Tommy Bahama! JR is constantly raving about how they are so comfortable and lightweight. If there is anything you want to wear whether playing golf or just having dinner out, it is a pair of these. They are available for $72 right now!

While Herringbone shorts are not applicable in every situation, I figured I would look for something else a little more durable and laid back. Mark mentioned having the perfect white t-shirt. To complement this, I found a great pair of cargo shorts (in camo too!). This is a hot summer look when you’re wanting to relax and yet still look great! They were available at Cabela’s for only $15! A great deal if you ask me!

As the title suggests, this entry was about shorts…and pants. I found this great pair of Hugo Boss linen and cotton blended pants at Bloomingdale’s for $125, which are perfect for an evening out or a trip to the beach!

What a Week!!

Ok...so last week wasn't the best as I shared with you and the weekend wasn't much better. I went for a bike ride with JR (I do this all the time) and somehow, I guess I was going to fast and flipped over the handle bars. I am fine though:) a couple of bad abrasions, a sprained ankle and ripped ligaments...making it a little difficult to get around but things could be worse:) Those things heal and with a little extra OPC-3, all will be fine in a couple weeks. It's beautiful in Miami today and I am so excited about the new additions to the portal late last week. Yep, it's about time...we got Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales. Two of my favorite stores online right now. This is just perfect for those of us who hate to go to the mall, or don't have local access to those stores, now you can purchase whatever they have online right at marketamerica.com. I decided to give it a test try today and see what could be found at Saks Fifth Avenue. I should have known that could have been costly. So about $1900.00 later and 5% back, I got some of the cutest spring clothes. I love all the new colors for spring. If it is colorful, it is sure to be hot and "in". Check out these great dresses I bought from them today. Under $200 each but great for the season and I can wear them for day or night. There is nothing better than buying a look that can go from "play" to "posh" with a couple of added accessories, like a great necklace or a hot pair of colorful heels. The season is all about color so spice up your wardrobe with some of the hot new brights for spring. Whether it is a great new dress, or just some colorful high heels or some fabulous fashion jewelry, have fun with fashion. And for you guys...throw on a bright color tie or a fabulous Izod shirt in green from Saks. Fashion is for everyone and right now fashion is fun. Next week I have an incredible surprise for you. So stayed tuned and be sure to write me and check in daily on the blog. I think I will test out Bloomingdales tonight, or better yet, check to see who on the portal sells bike helmets :)

Just for love,
Loren
