Lace has for many centuries been one of the most exquisite fabrics. And this spring designers chose black lace to create evening dresses that are red carpet worthy. So choose black lace for your next cocktail party or black tie affair. Here are some great options to look like a star.

Motives Beauty – Email Testimonials

May 11th // 1 Comment

Motives by Loren RidingerOften times, I like to dip into the email Inbox and share with you some of the great responses that I have received from fellow readers. Today’s email testimonial comes courtesy of Michelle Clay, where she shares her success stories in using Motives by Loren Ridinger makeup. Her story is unbelieveable and you should definitely be sure to check it out. To read the entire story, click here.

If you have your own Motives by Loren Ridinger success stories, I’d love to hear them. Send an email to Loren@myfashioncents.com!

This past Saturday I had a full day of appointments with one of my salon partners; and this same thing happens every time we schedule skincare and makeup appointments.

I have been a makeup junkie “forever” — and I went to art school — it is just another art supply to me — so I love it! †And people notice when they are in my chair… †It is really a “makeup ministry” for me….

So it really becomes more like a “spiritual” experience for me and them, rather than just “selling” — because, as you know – just like getting your hair done — you talk with the person, you give them a little lesson, etc….

Well, I keep having the most amazing appointments with women…. I seem to have appointments with people who are just looking for a particular product only rarely… But mostly I have women in my chair that are dealing with something really big — my first appointment on Saturday morning was a woman (grandmother) who had almost died and also just finished chemotherapy, and her hair, eyebrows and eye lashes were just starting to grow back… And she came in with no makeup, and she looked much older than she really was, and she was petite and thin…. And we talked about her experiences with the illness and chemo, and I showed her how to contour her face — “there’s this imaginary line between the edge of your lip and the top of her ear”, and held the brush along that line, and “this is where you put Burnt Caramel”…… And here’s the apple of your cheek, and this is where you put Flushed…. Blah blah blah….. (and I could kick myself for not having a before and after photo) — anyway — we did her whole face from cellular labs line to full make up — she was FREAKED OUT at how “stunning” she looked — ordered almost everything… Elated… she came back later in the afternoon and insisted that I show her again how to contour her face because she had been getting compliments all day long and she could still not believe how she looked. †She came in not only looking very old, but also acting it, and when she left (and then came back later) – she literally had a bounce in her step and a big smile. ††This woman looked stunning, and AFFULENT….. She looked like a rich, wealthy woman – and thus acted like it. †

And for me — it was really exciting, and made me feel good — when she came BACK to the salon in the afternoon to review her contouring lesson. That really made me feel good about my skills and that I really made a difference for her. †I want more experiences like that in my life!! †Re-affirms my feeling of accomplishment and that I am making a difference in the world. †Don’t we all want that????? ††Who wouldn’t want that?????

I am saying all of this because I had appointment after appointment like this…. Then next woman was going through a devastating divorce – she was married for 46 years, never worked outside the house/farm – never wore makeup – her husband left her for another woman and the divorce had been dragging out for over two years, and had finally been settled. She had been hospitalized due to stress from the divorce… And she had GREAT features to work with… She made it very clear that she was “low maintenance” but wanted to “polish up” her look…. Again, Cellular Labs to full face make over — I used the Brown Sugar and Gold Dust Luxe CrËme Eye Shadows – it took about 60 seconds (or less) to do her eyes… She looked amazing in the end and was acting like a teenager… And before she left, she called one of her girlfriends to meet for lunch and go shopping.

There is story after story… And ALL OF THE WOMEN “already have” the features — they just DON’T TAKE THE TIME FOR THEMSELVES.

And they ALL LEFT with some kind of — what seemed like — a paradigm shift around their life — because they did not just “get their make up done” — they got to share their life, they got “heard” — they were left “gotten” – they were given room to speak and say whatever they needed to say — and their makeup lesson got interwoven, and they got to experience themselves in a new way through the process.

I have so many good stories!!! †And these experiences CAUSE ME to LOOK FORWARD TO doing FOLLOW UP CALLS with them. †To find out how their friends and family reacted, find out if they are using their product, give them another lesson if needed, make sure they have all the tools they need, etc….. Find out about the rest of their life…. And you can see how this business and our products get right into the conversation.

It is IMPORTANT for women to take care of themselves. †AND it is biblical, if you will. †But there are mindsets in our culture that cause women to “collapse” – taking care of themselves as a PRIORITY, with being “selfish” —- and, our world depends so supremely on the work and the care women provide, and women CANNOT PROVIDE what they don’t have…. Yet we’ve been doing it for centuries…. †Women taking time to take care of themselves is just like plugging your cell phone into its charger…. It cannot serve you unless it is charged.

Hair, makeup, exfoliating, scrubbing, shaving, vitamins, exercise, PRAYER (this is first!), eating right, eating bad occasionally (dessert/chocolate), massages, foot rubs, pedicures, manicures, relaxing, naps, letting the people around her SERVE HER, and receiving it gracefully and graciously, etc…. — whatever it is that a woman needs to do for herself in a BALANCED WAY — God says do the best you can with what you’ve got. So I show women how to accentuate the features “they already have” -

Loren’s tag line/mantra is “changing the face of the beauty industry” — (which is not only a clever saying, but a true opportunity) … and these stories are my expression of that. †

Thank you for letting me share! †It makes a difference, and I hope it made a difference for you!

Michele Clay

Fashion Tips – Goddis sweaters: Love at First Sight

May 10th // Comment Here

I’m obsessed with these lightweight, oversized knits that are brand new on PinkMascara.com. Talk about the ultimate closet essential. Any one of these three styles would make the perfect airplane topper or even a chic, lounging-by-the-pool-in-Miami bathing suit cover-up. Which is your favorite?

Trends and News – Tracing the Trend: Graphic Beading

May 9th // Comment Here
They’re bright, they’re dramatic, and they’re showing up on just about everything right now, from summery sandals to string bikinis—and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I first saw this fun embellishment on the runways of Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney last spring. But now, thankfully, the trend has trickled down to a more affordable, just-as-stunning level. Below, my top five can’t-wait-to-wear picks. Enjoy!
