Chic Technology – Palm Pré

February 20th // 2 Comments

The new Palm Pré, which will be available late 2009

I’m sure many of you remember the early Palm Pilot. For some time into the nineties and into early 2000, Palm epitomized a sort of coolness and sexiness with their devices. Fast-forward, and that landscape changed. Palm was eventually supplanted by the Apple iPhone 3g, but this was a blessing in disguise for Palm. Instead of folding, it pushed them harder to invent something that people would clamor over…enter the Palm Pré. It not only builds on the Apple iPhone 3g, but also adds in a few missing features (can you say cope & paste anyone?).

To help get you back into Palm, they’re offering $100 off a purchase of $299 or more until Sunday, 3/1/09! If you’re in the market for a new phone, checkout the TX handheld, Centro or even the Treo Pro! They’re all great devices to help you get more work done on-the-go!

Lots of love,
Loren

2009 Trends – Chic Technology

January 6th // Comment Here

2009 is shaping up to be a very interesting year as far as technology is concerned. If you are in the market for a newfangled gadget, here’s a list of the Top 5 gadgets to keep an eye on in 2009! Remember, gadgets will induce pandemonium like in the following video!

View the top 5 gadgets to watch in 2009 after the jump.

Nintendo Wii
Let’s face it, the Nintendo Wii has been a hot seller ever since it came out years ago. You still cannot find them in most stores. In 2008, Nintendo introduced online play in many of their games including Mario Kart — the best-selling game on the Wii. In 2009, expect the Wii to continue its dominance. Fun for the whole family, the Nintendo Wii is inexpensive for a console at only $250. To find a Wii, try shopping GameStop, Target or Wal-Mart.

Smartphones
As text messaging and Internet enabled devices gain in popularity, expect to see an increase in the number of consumers switching to smartphones. Right now, the Apple iPhone 3G is the top-selling smartphone, with Rim entering the market with the Blackberry Storm. While both devices carry a hefty contract, remember, it is an Internet device and cell phone in one tiny package. Shop Apple, Best Buy, Circuit City to get the best prices, not to mention refurbished units for less!

Netbooks
The biggest surprise in 2009 might be the influx of Netbooks on the market. While HP and Dell with the Inspiron Mini 9 have tried to enter this market in 2008, the EeePC by Asus along with the Acer and MSI Wind have dominated this market. For less than $500, you can get a mini computer that is perfect for that trip to Starbucks or on a plane trip (and it will even rest nicely on your tray table). Look for more Netbooks in 2009, as portability takes on a whole new meaning. Stores like Best Buy, Newegg.com and J&R Music World feature some of the best prices on this tiny little package!

HDTVs
With the digital expansion beginning in February, look for new televisions to hit the market not only sporting enhanced picture quality, but also incorporating streaming video service from Netflix. HDTVs have dropped in price (and will continue to do so in 2009), as they become mainstream. To get the best deals on your next HDTV, shop right after the Super Bowl or at your favorite wholesale club to get the best prices.

eBook Readers
The last gadget to watch in 2009 is the eBook Reader. Priced from $92 to $300, what’s great about these little devices is that they allow you to carry a slew of books (maybe even the entire Harry Potter collection for all of you Potter fans out there), without all of the bulk. ShopNewegg.com and J&R Music World to view a number of different models in different price ranges. They even weigh in at just 7 ounces, perfect to fit in your marvelous handbag!

With so many gadgets taking center stage in 2009, let me know what gadget you think is going to be hot in 2009!

Love,
Loren

The Fashionable Male

July 17th // 4 Comments

Guy’s, I didn’t forget about you! If there is nothing more that a woman loves, it is to see their guy dressed up nicely. It could be simply a nice pair of jeans and a pressed dress shirt with a pair of loafers. At the beach (or during the summertime), it might be a polo shirt or even a pair of linen pants and a linen shirt.

Here’s a way to create a look that’s great for going out to dinner (or even out with friends). Guy’s, take note!

For starters, I started with a nice pair of relaxed fit pinstripe pants. These were available at Gap for $50. Visit Gap and search: pinstriped pants.

For shirts, you have a few different options. You could wear one of those white Brooks Brother’s tees that I mentioned earlier during the day, or pair these with a nice dress shirt like the BOSS ‘enzo’ shirt, which is available from Nordstrom for $95. This shirt is a great value, as it can also be worn with jeans.
Visit Nordstrom and search: hugo boss enzo.

Forgetting a belt is a no-no! While I was looking for a pair of pants, I came across the classic black leather belt for $25. Your look is almost complete!
Visit Gap and search: classic leather belt.

Having the right shirt along with a nice pair of pants, complete with belt, is good start. The last couple of items are necessities though. Often, we throw on a pair of shoes that are either worn out or do not go with our outfit. Over on Zappos, I found a pair of Fitzwell Barett’s for $85. Again, these can be worn in a variety of different ways. Either with jeans or out on a date, your shoes do catch a person’s eye, so make sure that they look clean and fit properly!
Visit Zappos and search: fitzwell barett.

To make sure that you are on-time for your date (or appointment or even a get-together), a watch is a must! Complete that classic, yet polished look with a Kenneth Cole Reaction Stainless Steel and leather strap watch, available for a low $78 from TheWatchery.com.
Visit TheWatchery.com and search: Kenneth Cole Stainless Steel.

While you’ve got the look (not to mention a few other more casual possibilities for later), upgrade that cell phone to a smartphone for calling your significant other or use it to get directions (this time, you don’t actually have to stop and ask, as most smartphones have a built-in GPS system), not to mention, it can point you to some great restaurants in the area as well! Why not try the Apple iPhone, available at Apple.com!
Visit Apple and search: iPhone

Put all that together and you are definitely headed in the right direction (thanks in part to that piece of technology you picked up), not to mention that new look that ooze’s sexiness and is sure to turn a few heads along the way!

Love,
Loren
