Coats for Curvy Girls

November 2nd // 3 Comments

I’m not really a big fan of the cold but it’s pretty much impossible to ignore the huge snowstorm that just hit the Northeast last weekend. I need to stop being in denial and give in and go shopping for a coat! So far there are three really fab and affordable coats for curvy girls and don’t know which to choose! Help? Here are three tips to keep in mind when shopping for coats that flatter a woman’s curves!

  1. Draw attention UP. Faux-fur neck details on this coat from H&M divert eyes from the hips.
  2. Confidence is everything! Rock a bold color and a belt at the waist to show off your hourglass figure with this option from ASOS.
  3. Capes like this fleece one actually look great on everyone, but keep the volume on top and opt for body-conscious bottoms.

This dress has a cape… would you wear it?

May 25th // 4 Comments

I saw this ASOS dress featured on Outblush and was instantly curious about what you all would think of it! It’s a pretty floral shift with a sheer cape in the back. For only $83, would you try this “trend”?

Instant Obsession: The New ‘Capelet’

October 25th // 1 Comment

It can be exciting to try out a new trend, right? Add something different into the mix :) Other times, it can be a little overwhelming, like with this season’s capes! Very voluminous.  Enter: the capelet.

Nordstrom, Tarnish Texture Zip Front Capelet $86

This chunky knit in a lush moss green is the perfect miniature version of an oversized cape. The neckline and bell shape make this piece easy to throw on over just about anything. Plus, it’s under $100.

I might live in this sweater for the rest of fall!

The Perfect In-Between-Seasons Coat? A Cape!

March 12th // Comment Here

Super-cozy and the definition of chic, a cape has a soft sexiness and transitions beautifully between seasons. I love to throw one on on those days when it’s still cold enough to wear a coat, but not so cold that I need to stay completely under wraps. Black is infinitely practical, but this rich green cape on Leighton Meester (caught shooting a scene for Gossip Girls in New York) can counteract the dullest, end-of-winter days. Do you love it, too?

Pieces You Should Buy to Get a Jumpstart on Your Fall Wardrobe

March 4th // Comment Here

Last week I raved about three of my favorite new fall trends fresh off the runway: calf-length dresses, winter capes, and wide-leg trousers. And most of you already know this about me, but once I see something I love I have to find it online immediately. So I started scouring the web and though it took some digging I found them all. And here they are!
