Fashion Week in Paris was so much about opulence and elegance. It is so inspiring to see top fashion designers and models in one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. Hot or Not? Another Wacky Creation From Chanel!

March 27th // 2 Comments

It’s no secret; I LOVE Chanel! And when I think of Chanel, I think classic, classy, timeless, but lately I’ve been adding futuristic to that set of adjectives. Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s mastermind/creative director never ceases to amaze me with his ever-evolving creativity! Check out the Perspex Briefcase pictured above. The execution of this suitcase is brilliant in terms of look and concept, though I probably wouldn’t be caught dead toting one of these babies around.  I prefer the aesthetic concept, though it seems to be quite functional!  What do you think of Lagerfeld’s latest creation?

Love,
Loren

Paris Fashion Week 2009 – The Chanel Runway

January 30th // 1 Comment

Chanel mastermind, Karl Lagerfeld always has a few tricks up his sleeve; but lately, he has taken fashion to new artistic heights! Check out the masterpieces worn by the Chanel runway models at Paris Fashion week this past Tuesday. The entire opening set and the models’ headresses are made entirely out of white paper!

[Image via The New York Times]

The 2009 haute couture collection opened up to an entirely white affair where plastic flowers, diagonal disks, lace and tulle, paper lights, and models decked out in paper headresses won the show a huge burst of applause. Apparently, “Lagerfeld got a team of 40 to labor for two weeks to produce the 7,000 paper flowers, bouquets, table clothes and pot pourri that embellished the extravagant nightclub décor.”

I wonder what inspired the unique choice of medium? Perhaps the various odd homages to the iconic brand served as inspiration? Or could the house of Chanel be taking a cue from Zaha Hadid–whom, as you may remember–created a mobile art exhibition containing contemporary designs inspired by the iconic brand.

What do you think of Lagerfeld’s creations?

Love,
Loren

Strange Fashion – Got Beef?

December 18th // 2 Comments

Hungry for fashion? Take a bite out of Nancy Wu’s edible Chanel handbag replica made out of 100% real beef jerky. That’s right–BEEF JERKY!

There’s no doubt that Wu, a product design student at the art center college of design in Pasadena, California; possesses a tremendous amount of imagination–not to mention, skill. Can you imagine the hours of craftsmanship that went into this?

Strange or not, you’ve got to give the girl credit for thinking outside the box. What do you think of Wu’s creation?

Love,
Loren
