Fashion Tips – Playing With Proportion

One of the most important tips for figure flattery is how you use proportion and how you apply it to your body type. Skinny pants should most likely be worn with a looser top, and a bigger top should be worn with a skinny bottom. Check out this picture of Victoria Beckham wearing ultra skinny black leather pants and a faux fur jacket. She is petite, and this look works because it makes her appear taller and flatters her figure; the skinny pants elongate her legs and the jacket is cropped and hits her at the waist, the jacket adds volume around her shoulders but the proportions of the rest of her outfit still make her look lean and appear taller.

Eva has a knack for mixing-and-matching high and low pieces flawlessly–check out the fabulous $40 Old Navy Safari jacket she’s wearing in the photo alongside her $158 J Brand jeans and a $895 Gerard Darel bag .

The Old Navy jacket is a good deal, but I found a just-as-chic one at Target.com for only $15! The skinny jeans featured here are also reasonably priced at $40, but if you have a higher budget, you can always swap them out for designer duds like Eva’s J Brand jeans (which are flattering for gals with curvy figures.)
