Fashion Tips – Men’s Fashion

November 3rd // 11 Comments

With the holidays upon us, I figured I would share with you a few men’s fashion tips to spare all the guys out there from an embarrassing situation this holiday season.

You may remember a few of my previous posts on shoes and shorts, and a few of the atrocities that might be committed(can you say jorts–or better yet, sandals and socks?) In hopes of helping avoid these faux pas– and many others; I’m providing a few men’s fashion tips as well as some gift ideas for him this year!

Three men’s fashion tips to help start your guy down the path to being fashion “centsible” are as follows:

    1. Leave the novelty items on the rack!

“Halloween Specials” are still on the rack for a reason. Skip the reindeer, pumpkins and turkey prints and settle for something a little more stylish, yet sophisticated. Not only will you not look like a turkey — but you’ll be surprised at how nice a simple T-shirt looks with a pair of jeans–or even a pair of dress pants and a blazer.

    1. Backpacks vs. Messenger Bags:

Backpacks are a must-have if you plan on going camping or to the beach. If you’re still using it for class, then you’re pushing it! Graduate to something a little more sophisticated–a messenger bag. Not only do they look much better, but they also give off a certain level of professionalism.

    1. Fitting-In:

If there is one fashion tip that all guys should adhere to, it is to wear clothes that fit. If it doesn’t fit properly, it is a major turn-off. Just because something was “a really good deal” at the time, doesn’t always mean it’s worth buying (or wearing)!

In order to best determine what fits, don’t be afraid to ask for a woman’s advice. Just because your friend is able to wear a certain cut, doesn’t mean you can pull off the same style. That’s why there are different types of fashions for different body types!

To get you started, I’d suggest checking out Brooks Brothers to replace that pile of novelty tees you’ve built up over the years. Not to mention, Target has a 2-pk of black Merona crewneck tees for around $8.

eBags.com really delivers when it comes to bags. In particular, I liked the David King & Co. East/West Full Flap bag for $88 and the Kenneth Cole Christina Flappelgate bag for $97. What is even more impressive, is that eBags.com offers free shipping — they even pay for the returns as well.

Guys, I’d love to hear from you on this one. Ladies, do you have a faux pas that I may not have mentioned? Let me know!

Love,
Loren
