Fashion Tips – How do I wear my Twilly? Oh, let me count the ways…

June 13th // Comment Here

Have you ever had one of those fashion moments where you rediscover something you’d forgotten you owned—and it brings you just as much enjoyment as if you’d bought it all over again? Well, that’s exactly what I went through with my Twilly. The thin little silk scarf had slipped between my drawers and in a bought of spring cleaning I found it again. The brilliance of the Twilly—which is technically a fun name for a long, narrow silk scarf—is that it’s completely versatile, and works as the perfect splash of color wherever you need it. And men, don’t think you’re excluded from enjoying this preppy summer accessory! Here, my four favorite ways to wear a Twilly. Enjoy!

Like a loose summer scarf (perfect for guys too!):

As a stewardess-inspired neck-tie:

Trends and News – Net-A-Porter Discount Site

March 9th // Comment Here

File this one under “fashion centsible!” Next month, Net-A-Porter (one of my favorite stores by the way), plans on launching theOutnet.com, a discount site. While the term “discount” in the fashion industry is often synonymous with lesser brands and lesser quality, theOutnet.com will carry clothes from designers like Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Hervé Leger, Alberta Ferretti, Chloé and Oscar de la Renta. They also plan on selling clothing and accessories between 40% and 60% off!

I’m definitely excited about this new site from Net-A-Porter and can’t wait for it to launch! How about you?

Love,
Loren

Fashion Tips – Wearing Satin

January 26th // Comment Here

For Spring ’09, designers showed a great variety of beautiful dresses in an array of fun colors. LANVIN, BCBG and DVF showed some gorgeous colors ranging from electric blue to fuchsia and rose pink.

You can wear colorful satin dresses now with a pair of black tights, or choose a bright, satin top and wear with jeans. Here are some options to inject some color into your wardrobe.

Newport News satin dress $39

Satin Sheath Dress $79.90 at Nordstrom

Belted Satin Dress $96 at Dillard’s

Spring 2009 Trend Alert – Harem Pants

December 31st // 5 Comments
With the new year upon us, it’s time to start thinking about our spring wardrobes. I was lucky enough to get a first look at what new trends will be cropping up in ’09 when I attended New York Fashion Week this past Fall. While I loved a lot of what I saw, (i.e. tropical prints; bodysuits; voluminous, flowy, femenine sillhouettes) there were some trends I’ve still been trying to digest–namely, the return of the harem pant. Everyone from Michael Kors to Betsey Johnson to Diane Von Furstenberg showed this trend on the runway. Though I do like the sillhouette, my main concern is that this would be a tough look for a curvy woman to pull off. Much like the boyfriend jean, this look requires balance proportion for those of us who aren’t 6’1 billowy supermodels ;)
Curvy gals, if you dare try this trend, be sure to add heels and a fitted top, just so you won’t get lost in all that fabric!

Would You wear this trend? Keep checking back, as I’ll be posting more Spring ’09 fashion trends and tips.

Love,
Loren

Trends and News – Diane von Furstenberg

November 9th // Comment Here

Remember New York Fashion Week, when I had the opportunity to see upcoming designs from the likes of Diane von Furstenberg? Well, she’s back in the news!

Diane von Furstenberg
This time, she’s fighting off the notion that you don’t have to be Wonder Woman to have style, nor do you need fancy bracelets to deflect bullets. Her latest collection is inspired by Diana Prince, the original Wonder Woman. Her newest collection has its influence centered around stars and stripes and muted tones. Let me know what you think!

Much love,
Loren
