A satin party dress is an essential in any party-loving woman’s wardrobe. And there are two ways to go here. One is the edgy, futuristic route: a clean, non-fitted shape in a stiffer satin. Just be sure to show some leg or an expanse of bare back, to bring in some sex appeal. Alternately, you can go for the more popular option and wear a slinkier, fitted satin dress, which has sex appeal to spare. The key here is to get high-quality satin that offers a bit of stretch and support – and, if necessary, to wear some type of smoothing Spanx item underneath. I especially love the satin sheath dresses by designer L’Wren Scott (Mick Jagger’s girlfriend and a former Vanity Fair stylist). What could look more modern and flattering?
This dress won’t be available till spring, but you can find wonderful satin dresses right now at SmartBargains, Neiman Marcus and Victorias Secret
. I gravitate toward basic black but the jewel tones are hard to resist… which evening dress color do you prefer?
