Hot on the heels of my roundup of the best men’s fashion coming out of Milan for spring 2010, I bring you my favorite picks from Paris—from a new way to wear an old classic to the accessory every man (and maybe woman) needs to buy now.
Hermes: Who needs to know how to tie a tie anyway?
I for one love a man in a tie, even for a more casual look. It just reads confident, and well, sexy. So I immediately took notice of the way Veronique Nichanian was leaving ties loose and knotted on the runway for Hermes. Brilliant!
Louis Vuitton: Introducing the man-friendly fanny pack.
I don’t quite condone the cropped, patched pants, but I do give a hearty two thumbs up to the chic, attaches-to-your belt fanny pack. I see men walking around with everything from phones to sunglasses clipped to their belts—I would much rather see this!
Paul Smith: There’s nothing weepy about these pale baby blues.
It’s really rare to see something come down the runway and envision it exactly like that on someone else. Usually, I want to change the shirt or the shoes or tailor the jacket. But everything from the crisp slouch of the pant to the choice of an easygoing slide is just perfect.

Hollywood costume designer Louise Mengenbach, the fabulous Hollywood costume designer (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Starsky & Hutch, etc.) insists that shoes, like lamps, should always be your wild card. Louise probably hobbles around everywhere on 5-inch stilettos and owns not a single pair of sensible shoes, but I see her point. No matter how predictable the rest of your outfit (or home décor), a pair of shoes (or lamps) that flies off the style charts will elevate the whole look in an instant. Exhibit A: Beyonce Knowles working Louis Vuitton’s new Spicy sandal/stiletto.
Are you loving these shoes like I am? How would you make them work?
Oh, and don’t forget to check out Beyonce in the movie, Obsessed, which is currently at the box office right now.
Lots of love,
Loren
Yes, leggings in all different colors–printed, embellished, and (of course) the new Louis Vuitton graffiti leggings inspired by Steven Sprouse! Check out this picture of Nicole Ritchie in the new issue of Blackbook wearing these leggings in neon yellow graffiti.

Here are some options to wear now. If you don’t think you can pull off just the leggings alone, wear them under a short skirt or shorts. Your outfit will still look cool and edgy. For a more flattering look wear a longer top that comes below your butt.

If traveling to an exotic location is not in the budget for you this year, take a little trip with your style! This season, spring collections have a great African influence, with beautiful beading, colorful prints, and exciting accessories–bags and shoes embellished with chunky stones, feathers, tassels- oversized hoops, and stacked bangles. Marc Jacobs’ spring collection was like a retreat to a visually stimulating location, and with Madonna being the face of the new ad campaign, capturing an exotic and fierce look; there is no need to go away to Africa (or any far away location) to get inspired and infuse your closet with some of these pieces. Big labels like YSL, Bottega Venetta, Louis Vuitton and so on choose a bag each season to be the “It” bag for their collection that they show in all their ads and celebrities wear around town and all the magazines shoot. This bag turns into the must have for the season. This is a great marketing strategy, but this might not necessarily be the perfect bag for your wardrobe. I think an “It” bag should be a bag that is versatile, that you can invest in and that you will wear with different looks and you can combine with different colors. Check out this picture of Hilary Duff with her “it” bag from Linea Pelle. You can wear it many different ways- across your body, as a tote and it looks like it can fit all a lot inside. A great work to weekend bag.
If you like Hilary’s bag, you can snag one at Singer22.com. Do you already have an “It” bag? Share your fashion find with me!

Paris Fashion Week was amazing, but the talk of the tabloids, newspapers, gossip sites, and fashion show reviews everywhere focused on the latest ‘it’ couple–the flashy, fashion duo–Kanye West and his new girlfriend, Amber Rose. I’ve always admired Kanye’s style, and from what I’ve seen of Ms. Amber Rose; she can certainly keep up (almost to the point of outshining)with her fashion partner in crime! Anyone who can pull off heels like the Louis Vuittons she’s rocking, deserves a thumbs-up in my book! What do you think of this dynamic duo? I think they are fun together–a crazy, eclectic breath of fresh air in the crazyworld of fashion!

While handbags can come in many different price ranges, pick one that doesn’t require a loan to add some style to your outfit. From Birkin and Louis Vuitton to Kate Spade, pairing a great handbag can be a challenge. When selecting a handbag, choosing a good quality material with a clean design is a must. Rather than selecting the traditional black, brown or saddle colored handbag, choose one that will standout. By selecting a hue like red, orange, sky blue, kelly green, marigold, cream or white, you have chosen a bag that is neutral in color and can add some rich color to nearly any outfit. Marvel at a few up and coming handbag designers to meet your budget after the jump.
While Kate Spade and Louis Vuitton bags can be extremely pricey, take a look at Adriana Castro and Jane Marvel, two handbag designers to fit nearly any budget. For the budget conscious, Jane Marvel offers handbags of all different varieties from $42 to $150. From the Run-Around bag to the Puddle Jumper, Jane Marvel bags are not only affordable, but also have a rich color palette that are great for adding color to nearly any outfit!

If you’re in the market for an investment piece that you can wear year after year, check out the Hobo bag by Adriana Castro or even the Mintaka Tote (my personal favorite). By adding a shot of color to your outfit, standout from the crowd with style intelligence and confidence!
