Mad Men Madness Returns

March 3rd // 2 Comments

Mad Men Madness (and fashion) returns. The hit TV show Mad Men premieres on March 25th, and that means Banana Republic’s back with another Mad Men-inspired collection of Betty Draper and Joan Holloway styles. This one’s designed by Emmy Award-winning Mad Men designer Janie Bryant and Banana Republic Creative Director Simon Kneen. Think classic 50s silhouettes in bright spring colors and florals. The collection also features some jewelry and a clutch. I don’t wear 50s styles much but I am fascinated by how this Mad Men trend just picked up so quickly… even Estée Lauder debuted a Mad Men-inspired cosmetics collection…crazy!

Mad Men collection launches at Banana Republic

August 16th // 1 Comment

Banana Republic is working exclusively with Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant on their latest collection, available now in stores and online. The Mad Men Collection offers the classic tailoring and feminine silhouettes of the 1960s for an affordable price with each item under $200. Not bad for high quality, investment pieces!

What do you think of the line? Everything is beautifully made but I wish they had used a model in keeping with the time period, similar to the female characters on the show. The clothes are begging for curves!

Would you buy a swimsuit designed by Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks?

June 29th // 3 Comments

Curvy Mad Men star Christina Hendricks graces the cover of Lucky magazine’s August issue with her signature red hair and a gorgeous nude dress by Donna Karan. During the interview Christina opened up about the difficulties of shopping for her figure: “It’s really hard to find a bathing suit if you have breasts. You either get smooshed down or there’s no support. My husband and I have sketched out designs.”

Sketched out designs? I would love to see them! She is a role model for women everywhere and I think a swimwear line could be such a successful business venture for her. Definitely has potential!

Curves Done Right: Christina Hendricks for London Fog

August 25th // 10 Comments

After yesterday’s intense discussion over plus-size model Crystal Renn’s new ads for Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, I thought it important to share the new London Fog campaign with you. London Fog really got it right when choosing the size 12 Christina Hendricks as their spokesmodel – she looks amazing and the company does a great job of showing off, not hiding, her curves:

The Mad Men star has been quoted saying:

“London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties in to Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this is a nice way to tie everything together. The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone — it worked in the 1960s and it works now.”

Lots of love,
