Trends and News – Don’t Miss the Marc!

July 6th // Comment Here

Wait, is another recession-priced Marc Jacobs line on the horizon?

No sooner did I post news of M.J.’s under $100 diffusion line, Jacobs by Marc Jacobs, hitting stores than I got word of yet another wallet-friendly collection from the design house on the horizon. Launching in stores across the country in August is Don’t Miss the Marc, a cutely named capsule collection of back-to-school clothes—all priced $200 or less. Though a lot of the items will certainly appeal to the younger set (patterned leggings, cartoonish tees) there are quite a few staples we can all enjoy, like the preppy blazers and denim pencils skirts rendered in different washes. I’m completely excited about the line—who doesn’t want designer clothing for less!—but I’m still reverting back to my original concern: How many cheaper diffusion lines can one man do and still maintain a collection that demands $1,000 price tag? Discuss.

Lots of love,
Loren

Trends and News – Marc Jacobs Strikes Again…

June 29th // 1 Comment

The latest addition to the ever expanding M.J. empire is the recession-friendly basics line Jacob by Marc Jacobs, which hit stores this past week. Everything—with the exception of a set of straw fedoras—is under $100, including a cashmere sweater, some playfully bright bangles, even a leather-trimmed tote. But as much as I love the idea of accessible Marc Jacobs, I’m still a little torn over just how wide this designer can spread himself and still feel fresh and innovative. I mean, a T-shirt can be anywhere from $10 to $1000 depending on which level you want to shop at. What do you think?

Marc Jacobs Runway…The 80s Revival Continues

February 19th // Comment Here

The 80s fashion revival is obviously in full swing now, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to die out anytime soon–according to Marc Jacobs, at least. Last night, the Jacobs runway was a mélange of fluorescent colors, Mohawks, leg warmers, and shoulder pads.

Personally, I thought it was brilliant. Are you feeling the 80s trend?

Love,
Loren
