Vogue Italia’s March cover features the stunning Joan Smalls and a hashtag too. Notice anything different about Vogue Italia’s new March cover? Vogue Italia has fully joined the world of social media by giving the March cover its very own hashtag #OVERTHETOP.

Shot by photographer Steven Meisel, the cover is also notable for featuring Joan Smalls, its first woman of color since their “All-Black” issue of 2008. Hailing from Queens, NY, Smalls is of Puerto Rican descent and looks absolutely stunning on this cover.

She’s wearing bold and almost psychedelic Estee Lauder cosmetics and is decked out in a Dolce Gabbana printed brocade jacket with gorgeous Erickson Beamon earrings. Those lavender eyes are just amazing, aren’t they?

Tech-savvy Vogue Italia not only allowed a hashtag to grace its cover, but created an animated GIF to go along with it, which you can see here. Way to go, Vogue Italia!
