Sexy red lips, never go out of style. And this spring this trend seems to be favored by celebrities for red carpet events. Recently celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Sienna Miller rocked red lips. Drew wore a black and white dress with a pop of red in her shoes and her lips, and Sienna Miller went for a red lip with a red dress.

To get the perfect red lip, first exfoliate your lips and condition, then outline them with a great lip crayon from Motives by Loren Ridinger in Retro Red, its smooth and creamy. Then apply the red lipstick the one I recommend is Motives rich formula lipstick in Fire Red.

1. Picking the right color is key. Always go one shade lighter than the lipstick you plan to use. Your lipstick will wear off faster than the liner, and you don’t want to be left with a dark, granny-in-Palm-Beach-after-a-meal outline.

2. Keep the tip of your pencil sharpened to a thin, rounded edge. If the end is too sharp, you get a jagged, harsh outline. What I like to do is sharpen the pencil and then very lightly twist the tip against a tissue or piece of paper. It will wear down the point to the perfect diameter.
3. Starting in the center of your top lip, with medium pressure, apply a thin line that just touches the outside edge of your lip. Repeat on the opposite side, and then in one movement—from corner to corner—line your bottom lip. By making sure the liner meets the outside edge of your lips, you’re not only guaranteeing a beautifully dramatic effect, but also keeping lipstick from bleeding into fine lines.
4. Here’s where you have options. Motives Lip Crayons are made with a non-drying, creamy formula, which makes them usable as all-over color or just as a liner. Start with Motives Crème Shadow in Brown Sugar, $14. Dab a bit on your finger and then glide over lids below the crease, carefully blending after the initial application. It works best to dab rather than smear when blending. The goal is to achieve a subtle, neutral sparkle.

Beginning with the upper, inner eyelid, apply a thick line of Motives Kohl Eyeliner in Steel, $14. When repeating on the lower lid, start from the outside of your eye and stop three-quarters of your way in. Then use your fingertip to gently smudge the liner. Again, for best results, dab rather than rub.

Finish your eyes with a single, light coat of Motives Lustrafy Mascara, $17. You don’t want to over do it here. With all that eyeliner, heavily coated lashes will ruin the softness of this look.

Make sure your lips are moisturized, and then lightly line with Motives Lip Crayon in Tender, $14. Fill in with an even softer hand; you want the color to be concentrated around the outside of your lips. Press lips together. Blot. And you’re officially good to go!
