Holiday Makeup Trend: Purple Eye Shadow

November 19th // 2 Comments

If you have fair skin and blue eyes, try a wash of sheer pastel purple. Richer amethyst tones look amazing with green, brown or hazel eyes. I like to layer a bit of purple shadow over a smoky eye done in charcoal gray, or smudge some deep purple liner into my upper lash line. Lots of black mascara just makes the effect even more lush and romantic. Here’s my go-to shade:

Steal This Look!

November 15th // 3 Comments

Kristen Stewart recently appeared on the cover of Allure rocking some pretty amazing eye makeup. The color combination, bronzey-red and navy, gives an earthy-sexy result that looks stunning (and deserves repeating!). So here are three quick steps to making this sultry look your own.

1. Start with a loose powder eyeshadow, like Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eyeshadow in Cosmopolitan. Dip your brush lightly and pat the tip along the lashline of your upper lid, where you want the majority of this bronze shade to be concentrated. Then go back and gently blend up and out. Using the eyeshadow still left on your brush, very gently pat along the lashline of your bottom lid. This should leave a very light hint of color. Don’t overdue it here!

2. Using a very thin brush, apply a dark navy eyeshadow—Motives Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow in Midnight is perfect—along the outer edges of your upper lid and all the way across the lower one. Blend lightly until everything looks even.

3. Line the inside of your lid all the way around with Motives Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Noir. Keep the line very thin! Then finish with a light coat of mascara and you’re done.
