Leave your brights on with these five, punchy summer basics that are too hot to ignore.
Ombre, as you may recall, had a big moment a couple of seasons ago. Now officially on the style map, it’s also one of the easiest ways to enhance your curves: When the color fades in and out in the right places, nothing’s more flattering. Check out this gorgeous Burberry dream dress. And I love the gorgeous, saturated hues in Old Navy’s jersey maxi-dress, too. $25!
Love,
Loren
The stores are rife with reasonably priced flip-flops, and worth buying in bulk. Skip the big athletic styles and opt for the basic, old-school models. I especially love the custom-order Havaianas – they walk a fine line between vintage and of-the-moment. Even better, you won’t see them on everyone else.
Also, check out the beyond-cheap-and-cheerful options from Old Navy. At only $3.50 a pair, they’re practically giving these away.
The most useful of weekend items: I find graphic t-shirts endlessly fascinating, and they project the ideal ratio of sensible fun. A great band, sports team, an excellent drawing or photo or simply a daydream-inducing vacation spot – it’s all good. Here, my favorites for summer.
Tell us: Which one do you like best?
Love,
Loren
I’ve been in Greensboro for the past couple of days as we got hit with a massive snowstorm! It has been beautiful, but I must say; I’m ready for Spring! I’ve run into some serious fashion block with all the nasty weather. Don’t get me wrong; it’s great if you are planning a day of skiing or a day of movies and staying home, but if you can’t take the day off and stay home, what do you wear to work? Plastic rain-boots are only to be worn outside, not in the workplace. Jeans and pants (unless they are tucked into boots) will drag on the street and will be wet by the time you get to work. After many wardrobe changes, I’ve found the perfect go-to outfit for when the weather is bad: knee-high waterproof boots, tights with a dark skirt or dress. Add color with a striped cardigan or a bright sweater and a warm waterproof coat or a trench coat! Check out my picks after the jump.

Sweater dress $58 at Urban Outfitters
Trench $49.50 at Old Navy

Khombu boots $80 at Zappos.com
Flyaway cardigan $39.50 at Express.com
