Viktor and Rolf brought backstage front-and-center this season with designers Rolf Snoeren and Viktor Horsting planting themselves mid-stage at the show and styling models as they came down the runway. It was a well-rehearsed display that felt more like a performance piece than actual backstage craziness. But none-the-less, it was fun to watch and something the ladies over at The Cut were able to catch on camera. I love that you can see the mix-and-match capabilities of their clothes in action. My only question is: What was going on backstage if everyone was on stage?

Paris Fashion Week is usually my favorite stop on the month-long fashion show circuit – I guess I subscribe to the “saving the best for last” philosophy. But honestly, I haven’t been blown away. Don’t get me wrong though, there have certainly been a few high points… my favorite so far being the introduction of nude and navy as the new preferred palette for stripes.
Stella McCartney vs. Isabel Marant
Both Stella McCartney and Isabel Marant did tops in this print that they paired with ankle-length skinny pants and pointy-toe stilettos. But Stella McCartney stuck with a classic aesthetic, while Isabel Marant went for rocker chic. Which mood would you go for?

If John Galliano’s models were wearing clothes, I didn’t notice. I was too mesmerized, perplexed, and completely blindsided by what was happening on their heads. There were oversized hats of every caliber: big, floppy mushroom hats, warrior princess hats, genie hats, and some sort of feathery-looking tree hat. Anyway, it was strange—even for John Galliano. Leather skirts in every form—mini, pleated, pencil—have been popping up since New York Fashion Week kicked off a month ago. But it was the Parisians that figured out how to wear them best. The winning combination: A soft lace blouse and a fitted leather skirt. The look is tough without being hard, sexy without being girly, and definitely something I want to start wearing now.
