Red Carpet Fashion at the Academy Awards

White continues to be a trend on the Red Carpet in 2009! Last night’s Academy Awards produced a slew of gorgeous, glamorous visions in white. Have a look!

While I think white is always a safe and classy choice for Red Carpet events, I’m growing a bit bored with seeing it this year. Ladies who chose to wear color to last night’s event stood out and left a lasting impression.

Rosario Dawson was another actress who looked flawless on last night’s SAG Awards red carpet. I’m loving the shade/texture of her gown, and the cool retro vibe she’s channeling. The off-white trend from the Golden Globes seems to have carried over to this award show too.

Stars like Anne Hathaway, Olivia Wilde, and Taraji Henson all wore shades of white last night too.

SAG Awards Fashion – Red Carpet Done Right!

Last night’s SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards brought forth more stunning Red Carpet fashion! Have a look at one of the most stunning looks of the night from Ms. Kate Winslet. Not only did Kate nab an award last night, she looked fabulous doing it!

This is an example of red carpet done right. Great color, a Narcisco Rodriguez mermaid sillhouette, and killer curves stole last night’s show. This is Kate’s second best supporting actress award this year for her role in Revolutionary Road. She also won a Golden Globe earlier this month. By the look of it, it seems as if 2009 is gearing up to be the year of Winslet!

Trends and News – Mermaid Style at the 2009 Golden Globes

Last nights 2009 Golden Globes were nothing short of spectacular. While Mickey Rourke capped the night off with a career comeback in the ring for his role in The Wrestler, it was Kate Winslet who stole the show, winning the award for best actress in a drama for her role in Revolutionary Road. Winslet also went on to win the award for best supporting actress in a drama for The Reader as well. Out on the red carpet, we saw a fish out of water, with the mermaid dress, which was worn by a host of celebrities.

If you aren’t familiar with the mermaid dress. The mermaid dress is close fitting through the bodice, down through the hips and to about the mid or lower calve, where the skirt then flares out. This is a sexy body hugging style at its finest.

Stars like Eva Longoria, Drew Barrymore and the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale chose this style to show off their toned physique. See a few variations on the mermaid style seen at the 2009 Golden Globes for less after the jump.
