Trends and News – Do Headbands Equal Coolness?

April 20th // Comment Here

Headbands have become quite the phenomenon as of late, and though I will never go near the kind you wear across your forehead—Flashdance is a look I’d like to forget!—I’m kind of intrigued by some of the small, prettier styles. But I’m worried this might be a trend reserved for high schoolers and young Hollywood. Here are a few of the styles I like. What do you think? Can I pull them off?

As you may remember, back in December I mentioned harem pants as a top, upcoming spring trend to watch for. Take a look at Maria Sharapova, who recently wore harem pants and did it just right!

Fashion Tips – Ultra Feminine or Rocker Chic?

March 9th // Comment Here

The contrast of two unexpected pieces together can make an outfit feel fresh and add a feeling of edginess and cool. A feminine dress paired with a leather jacket has been a look that celebrities have worn on many red carpet appearances. Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen kept her edgy rocker style with a leather jacket over a delicate long and flowy light green dress. Why not update your look and add a leather jacket or a denim jacket over a dress, for day or evening?!

Fashion Tips – Winter Wonderland

March 4th // Comment Here

I’ve been in Greensboro for the past couple of days as we got hit with a massive snowstorm! It has been beautiful, but I must say; I’m ready for Spring! I’ve run into some serious fashion block with all the nasty weather. Don’t get me wrong; it’s great if you are planning a day of skiing or a day of movies and staying home, but if you can’t take the day off and stay home, what do you wear to work? Plastic rain-boots are only to be worn outside, not in the workplace. Jeans and pants (unless they are tucked into boots) will drag on the street and will be wet by the time you get to work. After many wardrobe changes, I’ve found the perfect go-to outfit for when the weather is bad: knee-high waterproof boots, tights with a dark skirt or dress. Add color with a striped cardigan or a bright sweater and a warm waterproof coat or a trench coat! Check out my picks after the jump.

Fashion Tips – Playing With Proportion

February 26th // 2 Comments

One of the most important tips for figure flattery is how you use proportion and how you apply it to your body type. Skinny pants should most likely be worn with a looser top, and a bigger top should be worn with a skinny bottom. Check out this picture of Victoria Beckham wearing ultra skinny black leather pants and a faux fur jacket. She is petite, and this look works because it makes her appear taller and flatters her figure; the skinny pants elongate her legs and the jacket is cropped and hits her at the waist, the jacket adds volume around her shoulders but the proportions of the rest of her outfit still make her look lean and appear taller.
