3 DIY Coconut Oil Beauty Recipes

Following my post on baking soda beauty, coconut oil is another natural ingredient I am really excited to talk to you guys about today! While a jar of organic, raw coconut oil can be a bit pricey, a little goes a long way and the benefits are virtually endless – this DIY recipe post barely makes a dent!

3 DIY Coconut Oil Beauty Recipes

Coconut Oil Body Scrub

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • Drops of essential oil for fragrance (optional)

Coconut Oil Body Butter

  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional)
  • Drops of essential oil for fragrance (optional)
  • Whip on high speed with your KitchenAid mixer whisk for 6-7 minutes

Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment

  • Section off hair
  • Warm 2-3 tbsp of coconut oil and massage into hair, beginning at the ends or wherever driest
  • Leave for 30 minutes and shampoo as usual

Coconut oil’s beauty benefits come from the medium-chain triglycerides (super moisturizing for your skin, protects against free radicals, sun damage, anti-aging, acne and other skin issues) and fatty acids (deep conditioning for your hair, anti-dandruff and promotes growth), so these easy DIY recipes pack a big punch in the beauty department.

I love everything with coconuts. I grew up to a place I called paradise surrounded by coconut trees. Coconut has a lot of uses and benefit, My LOLA (grandmother) make fresh coconut oil from scratch and uses it to massage people. Coconut oil is very good for the skin and hair. And coconut water is very refreshing to drink and the coconut milk we use it to make dishes and dessert like rice cakes, etc. Hmmmm yummy!
